On Friday during our splash party we always have a very popular water balloon toss.  This usually turns into a water balloon fight at the end of our day!  If you are willing to donate some already filled balloons for this fun event, please let me know!  Thanks so much!

Just a quick reminder that we will be outside on Friday from 1:30-3:15.  Mr. McCabe has asked our class to wear sneakers and the color yellow.  Students may also wear hats and sunscreen (applied at home).  Please send a water bottle (labeled with your child’s name).  We’ll enjoy a refreshing popsicle treat at the end of our day!

May 26 – School is in session.  We will have Awesome Activity Day from 1:30-3 instead of Music.  Please send your student to school wearing sneakers and a yellow clothing if possible.

PTO ice cream toppings, sauces, candy etc… for the first grade raffle basket at the PTO splash party are due today if you would like to contribute.

June 1 – The Doorbell Rang Play, 1:30 showtime.  Chocolate chip cookie donations are being accepted, thank you!  Please check in at the office with Mrs. Aument prior to coming to our room.

We will have our first grade SPLASH PARTY in the afternoon.  It is very likely your child will get wet.  Please have your student wear a bathing suit under their clothing (if they choose to do so).  Students may bring a towel and flip flops to wear during this time.  Please label all items prior to sending them to school.  Students who have longer “jam” type swim shorts may wear them as their shorts during the day along with a t-shirt.

Awesome Activity Day has a new date – Mark your calendar for Friday, May 26.  Students will spend the afternoon outside having fun participating in team games.  Please send your child to school wearing sneakers.

The PTO will be hosting a themed-basket auction at the Splash Party on June 5th.  To help offset the costs of the party, they’re asking for donations from families to build these baskets.  The first grade theme is ICE CREAM TREATS.

Examples of items needed are:  ice cream dishes, sauces, magic shell, sprinkles, assorted toppings (candy, marshmallows, peanuts, etc…).   Please send all items to school by Friday, May 26.

I’d like to send out a big THANK YOU to the parents of Eshleman and the Eshleman PTO who have made donations and helped to raise money for our school.  Thanks to your generosity, our class is able to attend the field trip at no cost!  You’re awesome!

Thursday, May 18 – We have book exchange.  This will be our last book exchange of the school year.  All books are due back to the library by the end of May.

If your student forgot their money, or would like to buy additional books at the book fair, feel free to send in their money tomorrow (Friday, May 12).  I will be sure they get some time to shop for their books.

I sent home a list of students who ordered lunches from the cafeteria for our field trip on May 19.  Please let me know if I incorrectly put your student on that list, or if you would like to have your child added to the list!  Thanks for your help!

Happy Mother’s/Grandmother’s Day to all of you ladies who look after the first graders in my class!  It’s the most important job in the world!  Thank you!

Monday, May 8 – We have Art.  Mrs. Steffy is back from maternity leave!  We have spelling and Storytown tests today.

Tuesday, May 9 – We have Phys. Ed. & book exchange.  We’ll preview the books at the book fair today.  New spelling words will come home.  Miss Zubaly, our Millersville student, will be teaching Math and Content this afternoon.

Wednesday, May 10 – We have Music.  There will be a substitute in our room while I have a chance to read individually with each of the children.   We’ll take our chapter 10 Math test on 3D shapes.

Thursday, May 11 – We have Flex.  Please wear sneakers.  Today is our day to purchase “buy one get one free” books at the Eshleman book fair.  Please send money to school with your child if you would like them to purchase any books.  Miss Zubaly will be teaching Language Arts this morning.

Friday, May 12 – We have Art.  Today is a 1:30 early dismissal day for students.  Please contact the office with any transportation changes for your student.  Have a great weekend!
