A few more things…

Tonight is the Eshleman PTO fundraiser at Wayback.  Ask your friends and family to support our school by dining at Wayback tonight between 4-8 PM.  We would love your support and you get out of making dinner for the family!

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you who registered for our first grade literacy night this evening.  Doors will open at 6 PM and dinner will be served at this time.  Adults will head to the library at 6:25 and children will stay in the cafeteria to do homework, play, and watch a movie.

On Thursday Eshleman students and staff will kick off “Fun February” by beginning a school wide reading challenge.  Students will  complete one reading challenge each week of February  (in school).   We’ll be having dress up days and a special surprise at the end of the challenge for classes who participate.  If your child completed the summer reading challenge and received a gray reading challenge t-shirt, please have him/her wear it to school on Thursday, February 1st to help us kick off our Fun February!  I’ll update you each week on our dress up days.

This is one of my favorite weeks of school.  Your children are so nurturing to our quintuplets.  They carry the quints around so carefully and use tissues to cover them like a blanket.  It melts my heart!  The baby shower for our QUintuplests will be held this Friday.  The gifts you send in for the shower should begin with the letters QU or WH.  Gifts do not need to be baby themed!  They could include a quarter, whistle, whip, queen’s crown, Wheaties cereal box, something WHite,  etc… Your student may even draw a picture of something that begins with QU or WH.  All gifts will be returned to you!  Thanks for helping to make school fun while we learn!

Friday is also our first Friday spirit day at Eshleman.  Wear your Eshleman spirit wear,  blue and gold or your favorite team jersey!

January Pizza Hut reading logs may be sent to school any time this week or next.  Thanks for reading at home!

Mr. McCabe has kicked off our Jump Rope for Heart campaign to raise money for the American Heart Association.  Registering on line is an easy way to invite friends and family to donate toward this great cause.

Our 100th day of school is on Wednesday, February 7th.  We’ll need lots of parent helpers to run stations.  There are also a few supplies we could use if you would like to make a donation.  Thank you!

Monday, January 29 –  We have Music

Tuesday, January 30 – We have phys. ed

Wednesday, January 31 – We have library instruction (no book exchange this week)

Friday, February 2 – We have Music again.  Report cards will be sent home today!  Today is Eshleman spirit day.  Wear Eshleman or Penn Manor clothing or your favorite team jersey!

This week we are learning about the sounds for QU & WH.  To help us remember the sound that QU makes we have a set of (paper) QUintuplet babies in our classroom.  On Friday, Feb 2,  we will have a baby shower for the quints.  Please find something around your house to bring in as a gift for the babies.   All gifts will be returned!  The gift you bring in should begin with the letters QU or WH.

*  Please note that during our lessons we only use the quints to talk about the QU sound.  We will  not be discussing anything else about babies.  That’s your department in a few years!

Looking Ahead:
