We had so much fun learning about Apples on Wednesday! We made home made crock pot applesauce. Everyone was willing to taste it and most of the kids thought it was good! We learned how to cut an apple so you can see a star inside, tasted 3 colors of apples, and did some apple painting! Thank you for the many apple donations! Everyone received an Eshleman Pride Slip because they not only had fun painting, but we didn’t make a mess anywhere in our room! Please sign and return the pride slip to school on Monday. We’ll be having our first Pride Slip drawing of the school year, for a chance to pick from my prize bucket.
Sunday, September 30 is the Elementary Fun Run behind Manor Middle School. This is a free event. Registration begins at 1:30 and races begin at 2 PM. The school with the most participation will bring home the traveling trophy! I hope to see you there!
The last day to turn in PM football reading calendars is on Monday.
Pizza Hut Reading Calendars will be sent home on Monday. This is an optional activity sponsored by Pizza Hut as an incentive to keep kids reading at home.
This Week:
Monday, October 1 – New spelling words will come home. Please practice this list for a few minutes each night. We’ll continue our Math unit on addition to 10. Our special is applied engineering.
Tuesday, October 2 – We’ll review for our chapter 1 Math test. We have Math homework approximately 3 nights/week. Sometimes the kids are able to finish their work at school. If the Math paper is on the “return to school” side of the Froggy folder, please have your child complete the homework. Thank you for reading the story problems on the back. Our special is Music.
Wednesday, October 3 – We have book exchange today. Please send library books to school. Today is our picture day. If you would like to purchase photos, please complete the picture order form and send it to school. I already have a few on my desk that I’m holding until picture day! We’ll take our chapter 1 Math test today. Our special is phys. ed.
Thursday, October 4 – I will have a substitute in the morning – our first one of the year. I’ll let the kids know so they aren’t “surprised” when they come to school. Our special is Art. This afternoon we’ll have an assembly to kick off our 1st Annual Eshleman Run for FUNds! Mark your calendar for Friday, October 19th. This is our fun run date and YOU and YOUR FAMILY are invited to come out and cheer on the kids!! More information will come home today!
Friday, October 5 – The first Friday of every month is Eshleman Spirit Day. Send the kids to school wearing blue & gold/yellow, Eshleman, or PM clothing! Today is our spelling test. I’m giving the test to the kids 1 day early so you don’t need to practice during our long Columbus Day weekend. We have Applied Engineering.
