Pizza Hut Reading Logs

October reading logs may be sent to school this week or next. Please be sure to sign the bottom of the calendar. Kiddos who turn in their reading log will be given a certificate for a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. November reading logs are being sent home today!

Two fun Events!

Our class added all of the pieces to our Mrs. Potato Head so it’s time for a class reward. We voted and chose to have silent reading in a fort with a flashlight! On Wednesday, please send the kids to school with a blanket to make a fort and a flashlight if you have one. I have some extra flashlights the kids may borrow. This is going to be a fun way to end our day together on Wednesday!

On Thursday….

Eshleman will have a school wide pajama day on Thursday, October 31 to celebrate reaching our next fundraising goal for our Run for FUNds. Students will be going outside for recess so please send them to school wearing shoes for outside!

There is no school for students on Friday!

Next week –

With our shortened day on Friday we didn’t get a chance to count golden tickets. We’ll count them on Monday.

We have one more week to donate toward the Eshleman Run for FUNds. The kids and I had so much fun outside on Friday exercising at the FUN run! Our class is still in first place for fundraising! Thank you for your donations – please extend our thanks to your friends and family who have donated too! Your are all so generous!!

Students will find out which house earned the most points during Marking Period 1 at an assembly on Nov. 8. I’m so excited!

You are Rock Star Families!!!

Thanks to your donations Eshleman students have reached the next goal in our Run for FUNds! So….. tomorrow is Crazy Hair Day! Use your imagination and send those kids to school with hair that is colored, braided, spiked etc….

Our class is now in FIRST place for sending in the most fun run donations! How kind of you to ask your family and friends to support our school! Thank you so much!! Donations are being accepted for another week after the run, so it’s not too late to ask for donations!

If you signed up to bring items in for the first grade fall fest, feel free to send them in to school by next Tuesday. Parent volunteers should plan to arrive at Eshleman by 12:45 on Thursday, 10/31.

Please send plastic bags to school for our science fair.

Thanks for all of your help! I appreciate you!

Each of the kids received the book There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bat as a gift to keep at home. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did!

Eshleman students have reached the first goal of raising $3,000 for our Run for FUNds. To celebrate this accomplishment, everyone is allowed to wear a hat during school today!

Wednesday, 10/23 – Our special is Phys. Ed. We have book exchange today.

A few notes –

Most report card conference papers came home today. Please send back the bottom portion of your letter to confirm our conference time. If your student did not have their froggy folder at school today, I will send the conference form home on Monday when they return to school with their folder.

First graders will have a busy day on 10/31. Millersville students will be presenting a hands on science fair to our class and Mr. Heiney’s class. Could you please send a plastic grocery bag to school so the kids can use it during the science fair?

This is also the date of our first grade Harvest Party. If you would like to volunteer or donate something for the party, please use the sign up genius link above. Thank you so much!

Looking Ahead:

11/1 – In service, No School for Students

Nov. 6,7,8 – All 1:30 early dismissal days

Nov. 6 & 7 – Conference papers have been sent home with most students. Please sign and return the bottom portion of this paper to confirm our conference time. Siblings have been scheduled with back to back appointments. I’m looking forward to meeting with each of you!

Reading groups are up and running. Please check your child’s back pack for his/her red reading folder. Inside you may find a book. Please read to the post it note book marker, but kindly do not read beyond this point. You do not need to sign the post it note. I’d love for you to read together each night, however I do not keep track of students who did not have a chance to read at home.

Thank you for sending labels in for the Eshleman Run for Funds. It’s not too late. We really appreciate your labels and donations. So far, both first grades have raised the most money for our school! Keep sending in those labels! Thank you!

You may notice the kids have not earned as many golden tickets this week compared to past weeks. This is because we are now working to earn individual recognition (golden tickets) as well as group recognition (house points and Mrs. Potato head). Students have many ways to be recognized for their teamwork, good behavior, hard work, kindness, etc…. Sometimes they just hear a kind word to let them know they are doing well in school. I’m so proud of how far everyone has come in learning our school rules and settling into our routine!

Please be sure to send all transportation changes to our school secretary. It is important that you contact her since our class is usually dismissed to go home by our specialist teachers.

Lunch money should be sent to school in a baggy or envelope marked with your child’s name and 1-T. Thank you!
