Such a Fun Day!

If you’re ever lucky enough to spend Valentine’s Day with 26 first graders, I highly recommend it! We all had hearts full of love today (and bellies full of cake)! Miss Rachel was our surprise visitor. She bakes and decorates delicious and beautiful cakes, and today she showed us how it’s done! She made us the cutest monster cake in the history of monster cakes. And it tasted so good!

The children were SO VERY EXCITED to share and open their Valentines. The excitement in the air was contagious. Thank you for sending in Valentines. The kids really did LOVE them!

With all of our fun activities this afternoon, I ran out of time to count golden tickets. We’ll do that on Tuesday.

We do not have school on Monday, February 17. Enjoy the long weekend!

Tuesday, February 18 – Our special is Art. Our new spelling list will come home today. We didn’t get to that today either!

Wednesday, February 19 – Our special is Phys. Ed. Please send the kids to school wearing sneakers.

Thursday, February 20 – Our special is Music. I’ll be out of the building and have a substitute today.

Friday, February 21 – Our special is Library and book exchange. Please send library books back to school. Today is Kids at Work Day. Students are invited to dress like someone they may want to be when they grown up – firefighter, teacher, sports player, scientist, chef, mechanic….

Enjoy your weekend!

Pajama Day is Tomorrow

Students may wear PJ’s tomorrow, however I’m going to postpone our pancake treat. Instead, we have a special guest who will be demonstrating and sharing something sweet. I thought this sweet treat AND pancakes would be too much for some little bellies. I told the kids we will make pancakes another day when they earn a reward. We are going to have a fun day tomorrow celebrating our classroom friendships.

Students will celebrate “Kids at Work” day on Friday, February 21st, 2020, with the help of the elementary counseling department.

As a way to promote career exploration and awareness with our elementary students, Penn Manor elementary schools are planning a special day across the district.

On Friday, February 21st, 2020 students will be invited to wear clothing that represents a career they may be interested in exploring as an adult. For example, your child may come dressed as a construction worker, a doctor, a teacher, etc. Please make sure that your child’s clothing is appropriate for a day of learning and wouldn’t distract other students in his/her classroom.  As an added component to Kids at Work Day, teachers and staff will be wearing their college, military, trade-school, or past/present career attire.

Our hope is that Kids at Work Day will be a great way to start conversations at home and at school about different types of careers, why someone chooses a career, and what kind of training/schooling is needed to get started in a particular career.  To help facilitate discussion at home regarding career development, please refer to the “additional resources” at the end of this post for some fun, age-appropriate career development activities.

The Penn Manor Elementary School Counselors would like to thank you in advance for your support for Kids at Work Day. If you have any questions, please contact your school’s counselor.

Sincerely,

The Elementary School Counselors
