Friday’s Google Meet

https://meet.google.com/xph-hexc-exc

Friday at 11:00 AM will be our last Google meet of the school year. I’d love for the kids to share a baby photo with the class! I’ll also ask the kids to share activities they have enjoyed doing throughout our year together!

I’d love to see your child’s digital scrapbook! Some of you have already shared them and it’s been so much fun to read them and reminisce!

A few housekeeping notes

Due to the COVID-19, we will not be collecting laptops this spring. Students will bring his/her laptop to school on the first day back. Sixth grade students will bring her/his laptop to their respective middle school. Questions or concerns can be directed to: krista.cox@pennmanor.net.

If you are planning on withdrawing from the Penn Manor School District. Please contact Eshleman Elementary at 717-872-9540 or email: jennifer.rohrer@pennmanor.net. All school materials such as school laptops, textbooks, and library books should be returned before the official school withdrawal.

There is a drop off bin for library books outside of the main entrance at Eshleman Elementary. Other school items can be placed in the bin (calculators, reading anthology, etc.-please label with student name).

Unfortunately, we are still waiting on our yearbooks. We continue to check back frequently, but at this time we do not know when they will arrive. When yearbooks are received, we will communicate a distribution plan with all families.

Friday’s Google Meet

We’ll be meeting again on Friday at 11:00. This week we’ll have a PET SHOW. Bring your dog, cat, parrot, chicken, snake or even your pet rock! If you don’t have a real pet be ready to share what pet you would like to have one day and why you think it would make a neat pet!

We’re going to have a surprise visitor (of course!) and Miss Trish and Declan will also be joining us. Miss Trish brought Declan (a dog from KPETS) to our room several times each month to spend time with our class! I would love for the kids to be prepared to tell Miss Trish thank you, why they enjoyed the visits, or what they enjoyed doing together!

Wear your house shirt to earn some extra points for your house!

Here are some Google Meet reminders, however I think we’re all experts by now!

When you click the link, you will be asked for a nickname. Please type your child’s first name ONLY. I will need to “accept” your child into the meeting, so please give me a minute. I’ll be in our meet room around 10:50 to begin letting you in.

A few tips to help you navigate Google Meet

When the video function is enabled, we are basically looking into your home. Please be sure  that all family members are clothed and the background is suitable for viewing.

When someone talks or makes noise, you will see his/her picture on the screen. You can imagine with all of us in separate homes, there will likely be a lot of noises (dogs barking, siblings talking, microwaves beeping, etc.) which will make the screen keep jumping.

Please mute your microphone by clicking the microphone icon on the bottom of your screen. If you are on a computer and don’t see it, hover your mouse arrow near the bottom and a gray  stripe will pop up on your screen.

If you want to turn your video off, you can click the video camera at the bottom of the screen. If you do this we won’t be able to see your smiling face!

If you wish to leave the meeting, you click the red phone at the bottom. If you accidentally leave the meeting, just go back to the link and re enter the same way you joined the first time.

If you have a question for me at any time about how to navigate something, there is a chat box on the right margin. If you type in that box, it will pop up, and I can answer your question.

I’m excited to see you on Friday!!

I just helped Eshleman PTO by joining Amazon Smile

Amazon Smile donations

As we practice social distancing, you may be doing more online shopping. This is a great time to sign up for Amazon Smile and have your purchases benefit Eshleman.

All you need to do is visit smile.amazon.com and sign up to have money donated from Amazon to our students.

When you get to Amazon Smile, you will be asked to choose a charitable organization to receive 0.5% of your purchases. It may not seem like much, but it’s easy, free and once you bookmark Amazon Smile you don’t have to think about it again. All your Amazon purchases will then help our students. Choose to benefit Eshleman Elementary Parent Teacher Organization and we all win.
