Update:

Reading assessments will most likely take all week. So please expect your students to come home with books to read starting on Monday. If we finish assessments sooner I will be sure to update the blog.

Please expect your students to come home today with their graded Module 2 Math Tests and Select Comprehension Reading tests. Their math tests will have answer corrections on them. Overall, I am very happy with how the students did during this module and on the test. They really enjoyed measuring using meter sticks and centimeter rulers.

Tomorrow we will begin Module 3 which focuses on skip counting by 5s, 10s and 100s, understanding the value of tens ones and hundreds and reading and writing numbers up to 1,000 in expanded form, number names and base-ten numerals. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions (:

Update:

Students will not be bringing home books to read for HW Monday 10/25 and Tuesday 10/26 due to a Second grade reevaluation of reading levels. Please have your student read any resources that you may have at home. Thank you!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 22nd, and Tuesday, November 23rd. Please click on the link below to schedule a time for you to meet with me to discuss your child’s progress for the first marking period.

After your name, please indicate whether you will come to school (wearing a mask) or you would like to meet virtually through Google Meet, as we did last year.

Monday and Tuesday November 22nd & 23rd Appointments

Please remember these helpful hints:

·       Look at your calendar, select dates/times that will work best for your family.   Please remember we only host one conference, so it is very important that blended families coordinate this in advance.

Here is a quick Youtube video to explain how to sign-up for our parent-teacher conferences. PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO FIRST BEFORE SIGNING UP!

  • A Gmail account must be used to schedule an appointment.   If you have one, I would suggest you use that.   (Please sign up for the conference and include your child’s name in some way as well as if you prefer VIRTUAL or IN-PERSON.)
  • If you do NOT have a Gmail account, you will use your child’s log in information to sign up for the conference. It would be helpful if you recorded your child’s log in information somewhere. (username=studentid#@pennmanor.net and password=this is specific to your child)
  • After you sign up for your conference, an email confirmation will be sent to the Gmail account of the teacher and also to the account you used to sign up.
  • A parent tip:  If you sign up using your child’s account, please hold on to their login information, because you will need it and the date/time of the conference to log back in for the Google Meet conference.
  • If you are unable to sign up for a conference using your child’s computer, please contact your child’s teacher directly to schedule.

Please book an appointment by November 4th, 2021.

Class Prize Update:

Today the students earned a show and tell class prize for being such a terrific and dedicated class. Students are encouraged to come to school tomorrow with a show and tell. A show and tell can consist of a favorite toy, drawing, story or creation that they are proud of. Please inform students that they are not to bring anything that is offensive or inappropriate to school. This is optional, so if you and/or the student do not wish to participate they do not have to. I am telling students that this show and tell is only to be taken out of their backpack during the show and tell allotted time. They are not allowed to take out their show and tell during any other part of the day due to distractions. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email me. I look forward to seeing what they decide to bring.
