Reading:

We will not be starting a new lesson in Storytown but instead each day next week we will read various versions of the Gingerbread man story. Each day we will complete a chart comparing and contrasting the setting, characters, main ideas and problems for each story. The following are the Gingerbread Man stories we will be reading:

Gingerbread Cowboy, Gingerbread Bear, Gingerbread Girl, and Gingerbread Baby



Math:

Module 3: Place Value, Counting and Comparison of Numbers to a 1,000

-Model 1 more and 1 less, 10 more and 10 less and 100 more and 100 less when changing the hundreds place

– Complete a pattern counting up and down

-Final Module 3 Math Test on Thursday December 23rd

Content-Social Studies:

The past week we continued on with our Holiday unit. We learned numerous facts about Diwali, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year and Boxing Day.

Next week we will be enjoying holiday crafts and treats. Please expect some ornaments and crafts to be sent home!

-Read and write numbers within 1,000 after modeling with place
value disks.

-Model numbers with more than 9 ones or 9 tens; write in
expanded, unit, standard, and word forms.

-Explore a situation with more than 9 groups of ten.

Content-Social Studies:

The past week we wrapped up our Native American unit and started our Holiday’s Around the World lessons. We began with comparing and contrasting our traditions for Christmas. To end this week, we are learning about Hanukkah and Ramadan.

Next week we will learn about the following holidays:

Las Posadas, St. Lucia, and Christmas in Canada
