Story Genre: Realistic Fiction- a story that could happen but is made up
Grammar: To identify and use adjectives
Focus Skill: Story setting- to identify the setting and its importance to the story.
Math:
Module 4: Addition and Subtraction within 200. Word problems within 100.

two-digit to a three-digit addend.

Content-Science:
This week we introduced our U.S Symbols unit. During this unit we will learn facts about various symbols such as the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, American Flag, Bald Eagle, and many symbols that reside in Washington D.C
Everyday in the month of February we will be learning about several important African-American figures such as Frederick Douglass, Aretha Franklin, Simone Biles, Dr. Mae Jemison, Ruby Bridges, Barack Obama and many others.
Class Prize:
To Parent/Guardian,
Today, the students earned a flashlight reading pajama day for being such a great and hard working class. Students are encouraged to come to school Friday January 28th with a flashlight, comfortable clothes or pajamas and a blanket. If you do not have a flashlight available for them to use they will still be able to participate in the class prize. Please inform students that they are not to bring any stuffed animals or toys to school that they might sleep with. This is optional, so if you and/or the student do not wish to participate they do not have to. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me. I look forward to seeing what they decide to wear.

This week we wrapped up our energy unit and learn about the famous activist Martin Luther King Jr.
This week will learn about dental health and begin our National Symbols unit.
Show and Tell Class Prize:
To Parent/Guardian,
The students earned a show and tell class prize for being such a terrific and dedicated class. Students are encouraged to come to school tomorrow with a show and tell. A show and tell can consist of a favorite toy, drawing, story or creation that they are proud of. Please inform students that they are not to bring anything that is offensive or inappropriate to school. This is optional, so if you and/or the student do not wish to participate they do not have to. I am telling students that this show and tell is only to be taken out of their backpack during the show and tell allotted time. They are not allowed to take out their show and tell during any other part of the day due to distractions. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email me. I look forward to seeing what they decide to bring.

The past week we have continued working on our types of energy unit. The types of energy we learned this week were wind, hydro, fossil fuels and how to conserve energy.
Next week will wrap up our energy unit and continue to learn about Martin Luther King Jr.
