Hello 5th Grade Martic Families,

It was a pleasure to meet our fifth grade parents/guardians at Back to School Night.  We are looking forward to the 2015-2016 school year.

Since we are starting our fifth week of school, we wanted to share a few reminders with you:

  • Please remember new spelling words are given to your child each Monday, and spelling tests are given on Fridays.
  • Please encourage your child to read 15 to 20 minutes a night.

Curriculum News This Week:

In Reading our Focus Skills are character’s motives and vocabulary strategies/using words in context.

Students are analyzing and identifying the four types of sentences in English Language Arts, as well as, writing complete sentences.

In Math we are learning: Multiplication and Prime Factorization. Students will be exploring patterns in prime factorization and using powers and exponents in expressions.

Note: There will be homework Monday through Thursday, and an occasional Friday.  Please ask your child to show you their planner for assignments.
