Week of February 1st ….

Is it really February already?  Our days together are just flying by! Here’s what is going on this week.

Reading:  Please ask your child about the Martin Luther King reader’s theater that she/he was a part of last Thursday.  Both groups did an outstanding job!!! Today we wrapped up our vocabulary study in lesson #15.  Tomorrow we will work with our Time for Kids issue by reading, analyzing, and discussing its articles. Plus, we will do some cooperative group work while engaging in a few written activities that relate to some of  the Time for Kids’ articles. On Wednesday, we will begin lesson #16. Our featured text is realistic fiction, and we will use text evidence and personal experience to draw inferences.

Math:  We began Chapter 9 today.  Students will be working on adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators tonight for homework.  As we progress through the chapter, we will be learning how to round fractions, add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators, and subtract fractions with renaming.  We are on a roll and rocking through book 2!

Reminders:

Friday, Feb. 12th:  School is now in session

Friday, Feb. 15th:  No school

Thank you and have an enjoyable week! 🙂
