Week of February 29th….

Hello Everyone,

We hope you are all doing well and were able to get outside yesterday to enjoy the beautiful weather!  Here’s what is going on in 5th grade this week.

Curriculum News:

Reading:  We continued working on our text dependent analysis graphic organizer today. Our goal is to complete the graphic organizer tomorrow.  Wednesday, we will begin lesson nineteen.  Our reading selection is a biography based on the life of Thomas Edison. Ask your child to share a few interesting facts with you about Mr. Edison.  Our focus skill will center around our continuing to work on recognizing a text’s main idea and its supporting details.

Math:  Today, we completed our last lesson in chapter 11, dividing fractions by a whole number.  We will practice this concept tomorrow, have our chapter review on Wednesday, and take our test on Thursday.  Our next chapter, chapter 11, focuses on Customary and Metric Units of Measure. Lesson one is converting customary units of length, and we will begin this lesson on Friday. Challenge your child to measure different objects around the house with a ruler or a tape measure. Thank you for your support!

Reminders:

  • Please remember to sign and return your child’s human growth and development form by this Friday, March 4th.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!:-)
