Week of May 22…….

Hello Martic 5th Grade Families,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend!  Keep reading to see what we’ll be working on this week.

Curriculum News:

Reading:  Today, we did our first close reading of lesson twenty-eight’s expository nonfiction piece.  Tomorrow, we’ll do our 2nd close reading and work through the comprehension activity with a partner as we discuss and show our evidence along the way.  Throughout the remainder of the week, we’ll be preparing and reviewing in order to be successful on the independent vocabulary and focus skill (fact and opinioin) activities.

Spelling:  Your child received her/his last spelling homework packet for the school year today!   Lesson thirty is our final lesson.  Since it is a review lesson, there are four pages in the packet instead of the usual three to be completed.  The homework packet is due on Thursday and our last spelling test will be on Friday.

Math: In math this week we will continue our 6th grade preview of unit 1. On Monday we will review GCF/LCM, ratios, unit rate, and equivalent ratio tables. Tuesday we will have our first quiz on 6th grade material, then Wednesday we will work on graphing ordered pairs according to equivalent ratio tables. Thursday we will practice graphing equivalent ratio tables again, then move onto more problems involving equivalent ratios on Friday. Keep up the hard work in class and on your homework!

Reminders:

Next Monday, May 29th,  school is not in session.

Thank you for your support and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
