Happy Fall! I don’t know about you, but I’m waiting for cool and crisp fall weather to arrive. Keep reading to find out how we will help our brains become stonger this week.
Curriculum News:
Reading: Today, we did vocabulary review activities which prepared us to be successful on our independent vocabulary activity for lesson three. Tomorrow, we will finish up lesson three and work with our Time for Kids informational text. Wednesday we will begin lesson four. The focus skill is making inferences regarding a character’s motives based on the character’s traits, thoughts, words and actions. Also, we will be introduced to and work with our new vocabulary. Our reading passage is a biography, and we will do our first and second close readings of this text on Thursday and Friday.
Spelling: Your child received her/his spelling homework packet today. This packet has four pages of spelling activities, instead of three, because it is a review lesson. I made the children aware of this. The homework packet is due on Thursday, and the test is on Friday.
Math: This week in math we will be wrapping up unit 2. Monday we will review word problems and Tuesday we will have one more review day of everything we have learned in the second unit. Wednesday will be the unit 2 test, meaning Tuesday’s homework will be a study guide. Thursdayand Friday we will begin begin focusing on basic division facts up to 2 digits divided by 1 digit.
