Week of March 5th…

Hello, 5th Grade Families,

I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Here’s a peek at what we’ll be working on this week in order to stretch our brains and form new neurological connections!

Reading:  Today, we started our next Text Dependent Analysis graphic organizer/rough draft (RAP+C).  The prompt is based on our realistic fiction narrative from lesson eighteen. The students are working with a partner, this time, instead of the whole class doing it together. Tomorrow we will continue writing our rough draft and try to finish it. However, we may find that we need to wrap it up at the beginning of class on Wednesday. When we do finish it, we will begin lesson nineteen.  Our reading passage is a biography of Thomas Edison.  We will review the focus skill of reading, analyzing, and identifying the main idea of a text along with its supporting details.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Math: This week in math, we will continue unit 11 by practicing logic word problems on Monday. On Tuesday students will begin converting metric units of measurement. We will start with metric length, converting between kilometers, meters, centimeters, and millimeters. Wednesday we will move on to metric mass, learning how to convert between milligrams, grams, and kilograms. For Thursday’s lesson, we will practice metric capacity, working with liters and milliliters. We will end the week by reviewing each metric conversion on Friday, getting ready for our test the following week, Keep up the hard work fifth graders!

Spelling:  Your child received her/his spelling homework packet today.  He/she is aware that it is due on Thursday and that our test is on Friday.

Thank you for your continuous support, and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
