Week of March 26th…

Hi, Martic 5th Grade Families,

I hope you all had a nice weekend!  It’s nice to see that we will hit the low 50’s this week and even the low 60’s one day.  Here’s what’s coming down the pike this week that will make our brains stronger.

Curriculum News:

Reading:  Our reading passage this week is an informational piece about cave science.  The students constructed a RAP+C graphic organizer/rough draft structure in order to be ready to set their purpose for reading today.   They set this purpose by reading a Text Dependent Analysis(TDA) prompt and then began reading the passage. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be used, by our readers and writers, to write a rough draft essay and transfer it into its complete published essay form.
Spelling:  Your child does not have a spelling unit to complete this week.  That being said, they will not have a spelling test either.

Math: This week in math we will complete our study of geometry for unit 12. Monday’s focus will be on calculating the volume of a composite figure, where students will learn how to find the volume of a shape that has more than one prism combined together. Tuesday and Wednesday will be review days about everything we have learned in fifth-grade geometry. Thursday will be the unit 12 test, so look out for the study guide coming home on Wednesday night. We are just about done learning new skills for fifth-grade math this week, so keep up the hard work fifth grade!

Reminders:

Friday, March 30th, and Monday, April 2nd:  School is not in session.

Have a wonderful week, and thank you for your support!  You, fifth graders, are AWESOME workers…Way to go!!!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
