Week of May 14th…

Hi Everybody,

I hope all of you had an enjoyable weekend! We continue to stretch our brains and make them stronger every day, so please read below to find out some of the ways that we do this.

Curriculum News:

Reading:  Today and tomorrow, we will be wrapping up lesson twenty-four and working with our Time for Kids magazine.  Wednesday, we will roll into our last group of readers’ theaters for the year.  They are “Twisted Fairytales”, and they are my favorite group of the year!  They usually end up being the children’s favorite as well. My hopes are for the students to begin performing them, to their reading class, on Friday.

Spelling:  Your child received her/his second to last spelling list and homework packet for fifth-grade.  He/she will turn in their packet on Thursday and take their test on Friday.

Math: This week in math we will continue our sixth-grade preview. Monday we are going to have stations to review unit rate and ratios from last week, and Tuesday we will take our first quiz on these skills. Wednesday and Thursday our focus will shift to equivalent rate, and how graphing can help us solve problems involving ratios. On Friday we will end the week learning how to determine if a set of ratios are equivalent. Keep up the hard work fifth- graders!

Have a wonderful week, and thank you for all that you do!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
