Week of October 29th…

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend!  Keep reading to find out how we will be bending, stretching, and exercising our brains to make them STRONGER this week! Keep giving 150% effort fifth graders… You’re doing GREAT!!!

Curriculum News:

Reading:  Today and tomorrow, we are going to wrap up our independent reading activities from last week. Wednesday and Thursday,  we will branch out from identifying the comparing and contrasting text structure to also identifying the other four text structures.  These are problem/solution, cause/effect, chronological order, and description.  Students will be reading different articles and analyzing them for key features of each text structure.

Spelling:  Your child received his/her spelling list and homework packet today.  Since the children are off on Friday, due to teacher in-service, the homework packet is due Thursday, AND the TEST is on THURSDAY as well.  The students were made aware of this and wrote it in their planners.

Math: This week in math, we are wrapping up our division units. On Monday and Tuesday, we will practice our strategies for dividing up to 4 digits by 2 digit numbers. Wednesday we will have review stations to practice everything we learned during unit 4, and Thursday will be the end of unit test. Keep up the hard work in math fifth graders!

Reminders:

This Friday, November 2nd, school is not in session.

Our school is collecting food for those in need.  Each grade level is responsible for one type of food.  If possible, please have your child bring in a can of cranberry sauce.  Thank you very much.

Thank you for your support  and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
