Week of April 29th…

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend! Here’s what is coming down the pike in 5th grade this week. Read on to see how we will be stretching and strengthening our brains.

Curriculum News:

Reading:  Today, we wrapped up our readers’ theater performances.  The children did a wonderful job of cooperating to prepare for these!  Ask them which “Twisted Fairytale” readers’ theater they were a part of.  Tomorrow, we will begin another lesson from our anthology series.  Our focus skill will be to recognize and understand literary devices, as well as to use sensory language.  Our passage is a fantasy piece for this lesson.

Spelling: Your child received their spelling homework packet today. It is a review lesson, so there are four pages of activities instead of three. Your child is aware that their completed homework packet is due on Thursday and that the test is on Friday.

Math: This week in math we will be reviewing unit 12 skills on Monday, and completing unit 12 test corrections on Tuesday. Wednesday we will have stations, and work on any skills that we missed during the first benchmark test earlier this year. Thursday and Friday we will work on data collections, learning how to create and interpret a bar graph. Keep up the hard work in math fifth graders!

Thank you for your continuous support, and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
