Week of September 23…

Hello, Martic 5th Grade Families, and happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Throughout the week, we will be s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g and strengthening our brains in order to make them STRONGER!!!

Curriculum News:

Reading:  In reading today, we finished up our comparing and contrasting activity where we found the similarities and differences between the two main characters physical and character traits. Tomorrow, we will revisit identifying figures of speech and their meanings.  Wednesday, we’ll review identifying an author’s point of view/perspective.  We will wrap the week up, on Thursday and Friday, by tapping into our prior knowledge of Text Dependent Analysis writing and begin to review strategies for writing a TDA essay.

Spelling: Your child received her/his spelling homework packet today. He/she is aware that this packet is due on Thursday and that our spelling test will be on Friday.

Math: This week in math we will be wrapping up unit 2. Monday we will start talking about multiplication word problems, and continue working on that on Tuesday. Wednesday the students will practice solving multiple step word problems for multiplication. All week we will review the various multiplication strategies we learned about so far. Thursday we will have review stations to revisit everything that we’ve practiced so far in the unit. Friday we will take our end of unit test for the multiplication unit. Keep up the hard work in math 5th grade!

Reminders:

This Friday, September 27th, is a 1:30 dismissal.

Thank you for your support, and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
