Week of October 15th…

Hello Everyone,

I hope you had a relaxing weekend and were able to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Here are some ways that we will be making our brains STRONGER this week in 5th grade!

Curriculum News:

Reading:  In reading today, we finished up our review activity on interpreting fictional texts and began to review the five different types of non-fiction text structures. Wednesday, we will continue to review the text structures, their key features,  their graphic organizers, and signal words. Thursday and Friday, we’ll be doing activities where we read, analyze, and identify a non-fiction’s text structure.

Spelling: Your child received his/her spelling homework packet today. Since it is already Tuesday, your child knows that the packet isn’t due until Friday this week. She/he is also aware that our spelling test is on Friday as usual.

Math: This week in math we wrapping up our third unit. Tuesday we reviewed our quiz from last week in small groups and set goals for how we want to do on the test this Friday. On Wednesday we will take a pause from unit 3, and complete the first math benchmark test of the year. Thursday we will have review stations for unit 3 to help prepare for the test. On Friday we will take our end of unit test, so make sure to complete the study guide Thursday night. Keep up the hard work in math 5th grade!

Have a wonderful week thank you for your continuous support!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
