Week of Nov. 25th…

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a good weekend and enjoyed the little bit of snow that we received yesterday! It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already upon us! Here are a couple of ways that we will stretch and strengthen our brains over the next 2 1/2 days.

Curriculum Review:

Reading:  Today in reading, we began reading and analyzing an informational passage about the first Thanksgiving and how it is is similar and different from our modern day Thanksgiving.  Tomorrow, we will continue and work in teams to complete a few comprehension activities that are based on this informational text.  On Wednesday, we will read and analyze thanksgiving poetry and then write some Thanksgiving poetry of our own.

Spelling: Due to the short week, we will not be doing a spelling unit.

Math: This week in math, we will begin shifting our focus to dividing decimals. On Monday we practiced estimation of decimals by whole numbers and talked about how to change numbers to make the problem easy enough to estimate in our heads. On Tuesday we will be dividing decimals by whole numbers, and on Wednesday we will practice dividing decimals by decimals. Keep up the hard work in math 5th grade!

Reminders:

Wednesday, Nov. 27th is a 1:30 dismissal.

Thursday, Nov. 28th, Friday, Nov.29th, and Monday, Dec. 2nd school is not in session.

I am very grateful for my wonderful Martic Family and your constant support! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
