Week of February 24th…

Hi, 5th Grade Martic Families,

I hope that you were all able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather that we had this past weekend. Here’s looking ahead to some of the activities that we’ll be engaged in to stretch our brains and make them stronger!

Curriculum News:

Reading: Today we wrapped up discussing and answering our comprehension questions that went along with the passage, “Money Day”. Tomorrow and Wednesday, we will return to reading short narratives and identifying their primary theme and main idea.  Thursday, we will begin working with a TDA prompt by marking it up and writing a restate and answer. Keep staying in a growth mindset you wonderful 5thh grade readers and writers! Friday, we will move into looking for direct quotes that will support our answer.

Spelling: Your child received her/his spelling homework packet today. It is a review lesson, so there are four pages instead of the typical three pages. Also, there aren’t any bonus/challenge words with a review lesson. The children know that their homework packet is due on Thursday and that our test is on Friday.

Math: This week in math, we will be completing unit 10 and moving on to unit 11. On Monday and Tuesday, our focus will be on reviewing multiplying and dividing fractions. Wednesday will be our test for the tenth unit, so study guides will be for homework on Tuesday night. On Thursday we will begin unit 11, which is all about measurement. Thursday will be converting customary units of length, and Friday we will move onto converting customary units of weight. Keep up the hard work in math fifth graders!

Reminders: I do not have anything that I need to remind you of this week.

Thank you for your support and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
