Week of September 20th…

Hello Everyone!

I hope that all of you and your families are having a great week! Keep reading to find out what we have been doing to stretch and make our brains stronger!

Curriculum News:

Reading: 5th-grade readers and writers continued to strengthen their brains this week.  We read, analyzed, and discussed a rigorous newsela article and questions about Marcus Davenport changing his mindset.   He plays defensive end for the New Orleans Saints and trains his brain to see his enormous potential on the field!  We will wrap up dissecting,  discussing, and answering these questions tomorrow, which will stretch our brains even more! WAY TO GO!!!

Spelling: Your child received her/his second spelling homework packet on Monday and returned it completed this morning. He/She is aware that our spelling test is tomorrow. Please encourage your child to take a practice test tonight and write any misspelled words 3 to 5 times. Thanks!

Fifth graders are working super hard in our second unit, multiplying whole numbers! This week we learned how to estimate products, as well as three different strategies when multiplying. Next week, we will continue practicing multiplying whole numbers with word problems. We will wrap up our multiplication unit on Thursday, September 30th and your child will take their unit 2 test on Friday, October 1st. On Thursday night they will bring home a study guide to review before their test. I am so proud of every fifth graders’ hard work!

Have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Thank you for your support,

Mrs. Eby 🙂
