Week of December 6th…

Hello Everyone,

I hope that you and your family had an enjoyable weekend! It’s hard to believe that it is already December! Where is the time going? Here’s what’s coming down the pike in fifth grade.

Curriculum News:

Spelling: Your child received a spelling homework packet today. This week, it is due on Friday instead of Thursday. The test will also be on Friday.

Reading:  Fifth-grade readers and writers have been working diligently, in teams, to read and analyze a realistic fiction narrative entitled Rope Burn. Way to stay in a growth mindset!  This week, they will be working through comprehension, vocabulary, and focus skill activities that are based on this narrative.  Keep up the great work!

Math: Fifth graders have been working hard in our sixth math unit of the year: multiplying and dividing decimals. Last week we focused on multiplying decimals and this week we are focusing on dividing decimals. We will wrap up unit 6 this week and our test will be next week. Fifth graders have also been reviewing old concepts with our spiral review homework and quick checks the last two weeks. We will continue these review activities almost every week to help keep old concepts fresh in our minds! Keep up the awesome work!

Thank you for your continuous support, and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
