Week of November 7th…

Hello, Martic 5th Grade Families!

Happy November! I honestly don’t know where September and October went, but as they say…”Time flies when you’re having fun! I hope that your families are all doing well and that you’ve been able to enjoy some of this September-like weather! Here are some activities that will be going on this week that will help our brains to stretch and become stronger!

Curriculum News:

Reading with Mrs. Eby:  Today, we began reading, analyzing, and discussing nonfiction passages about Veterans Day.  What it is, who is being honored and why we celebrate it.  As the week progresses, we’ll continue to build our prior knowledge about this national holiday so that we can fully comprehend and appreciate the Veterans Day Ceremony that we are attending, in Millersville, this coming Friday, November 11th!  We will also be making thank you cards to pass out to the Veterans when the ceremony is completed.  Way to stay in a growth mindset, 5th graders, as well as practice patriotism for our wonderful country, The United States of America!  We are very proud of each and every one of you!!!

Spelling: Your child received her/his spelling homework packet today. He/she is aware that the packet is due Thursday. Also, due to our field trip, on Friday, our spelling test is on Thursday as well.

Math: Math with Miss Miller: Today we started our fifth unit – adding and subtracting decimals. This week we will be focusing on estimating sums and differences as well as adding and subtracting decimals. Keep up the hard work fifth graders!

Reminders: This Friday, we will be attending the Millersville Veterans Day Ceremony! We’ll board our buses at 9:15 and return around 2:00. They’re are a handful of children who still need to bring back their signed permission slips. Thank you!

Thank you for your continuous support and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
