Week of January 9th…

Happy 2023, Everyone!

We hope that you and your family had a restful winter break! Keep reading to see what our fabulous 5th graders have been working on this first week of 2023… Quite impressive in my opinion!:-)

Curriculum news:

Reading with Mrs. Eby: In the week that led up to winter break, we wrapped up our Unit 3 Activity.  This past week, we began to dig into our long-term memories and determine the difference between the theme/life lesson and the main idea of the same passage/piece.  It indeed stretches all of our brains and makes them STRONGER! Way to stay in a growth mindset, everyone… I know it is not always easy to do so.  YOU ROCK!!!:-):-):-)

Spelling: Your child will get their spelling list and homework tomorrow. She/he knows that their homework is due on Thursday, and our test is on Friday.

Math with Miss Miller: Fifth graders have been putting their best effort forward during our patterns and expressions unit. Last week, we focused on interpreting patterns and expressions as well as plotting points on the coordinate plane. This week, we will be reviewing everything we learned in this unit and taking our chapter test on Friday, January 13th. Tuesday through Thursday night your child will bring home a few review problems for extra practice before the test. Keep up the fabulous work fifth graders!

Reminders:

Monday, January 16th: School is not in session in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday.

Have a wonderful week, and thank you for your support!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
