Week of January 23rd…

Hi, Everyone!

I don’t know about you, but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened our blinds this morning and saw a winter wonderland awaiting me! Our fifth graders have been working very diligently these past couple of weeks and are to be commended for it! Please keep reading to see some of the learning activities that are coming down the pike this week.

Curriculum News:

Reading with Mrs. Eby: We have been stretching our brains and making them stronger by reading, analyzing, and summarizing different passages by using supporting details, from the texts in the summaries.  Last Thursday, we began writing a TDA essay while collaborating with one or two other readers/writers. I know that you will all continue to give 150% effort!  WAY to GO FIFTH GRADERS!!!

Spelling: Your child is responsible for completing their spelling homework packet and turning it in on Thursday morning. Our test will be on Friday morning.

Math with Miss Miller: Fifth graders are hard at work in our eighth unit: fractions and decimals. Last week, we focused on simplifying fractions using the greatest common factor. This week, we will work on comparing fractions using the least common multiple, as well as representing fractions as decimals. Your child’s math test will be on Tuesday, January 31st. There will be a few review problems on Wednesday and Thursday night for homework, as well as next Monday, January 30th. Keep up the fabulous work, fifth graders!

Reminders: This Friday, January 27th is a 1:30 dismissal.

Have a wonderful week, and thank you for your support!

~ Mrs. Eby 🙂
