Important Field Trip Information

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We are really excited for our upcoming trip to Farm City in Harrisburg this Friday!  There are a few important things that I need to remind everyone!

  • Please make sure to send a DISPOSABLE lunch to school for this field trip.  There are a few students who ordered a school bagged lunch- and these students know who they are.
  • SEND your child to school in a bright yellow or green shirt (or close to this color so that we all look similar)   Please do not go out to buy a shirt!
  • Please send your child to school in comfortable clothing and sneakers.  This trip includes a lot of walking.
  • Please remind your child that it is VERY important for him/her to STAY with the chaperone assigned to him/her.  Your child will be given a school name tag to wear on Friday.

CHAPERONES ONLY- Please bring a backpack if you are able.  The trip advisor indicated that kids may be given souvenirs from booths that may be taken home and it would be awesome if you could help to carry these

Exciting News!

September 2019

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

We are excited to announce that we will visit Harrisburg for Farm City Day 2019 for an exciting field trip!  It will be held at the PA Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.  The trip will be on Friday, October 4th!  We will learn about all agriculture through hands on experiences and will be able to enjoy a day full of farming information. Kids will leave with a better understanding of where our food comes from and the important role of Pennsylvania farms!   It will be a day full of fun learning!

Transportation and the entrance fee is FREE!  There is no cost for this trip!

We will need parent chaperones for each classroom attending.  A random drawing will be held, in order to be fair, within the next week so we can provide you with plenty of time to take off from work if needed.  YOU MUST HAVE CLEARANCES ON FILE WITH PENN MANOR SCHOOL DISTRICT IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Mary Mehalick, Miss Katie Trostle, Mr. Jeb Thompson, Mr. Glenn Wolfe, Mrs. Lisa Bohannon, and Mrs. Kerry Bushong

Chemistry Experiment

Last week we conducted our first experiment! We combined a solid and liquid to form a gas inside a bag. The kids did an AMAZING job identifying characteristics of the substances and predicting what could happen inside the bag. Here are some pictures from the day!

9/9 Update

Here is the first update for the 2019-2020 school year! We are off to a great start!

Reading: We are reading works of fiction for our first unit of ELA. Our focus skills include character traits and Point of View.

Grammar: We are learning the four types of sentences: statements, questions, commands and exclamation.

Math: Last week we took our very first math test! We will be working on test corrections on Wednesday. Tonight was the first time I sent home math homework. The questions are a review of chapter one concepts. Please let me know if your child is struggling with any questions so I can review with them in school.

Science: Our first science unit is all about chemistry. We are currently studying the differences between solids, liquids and gases.
