1/10 Update

We had a full week of learning and growing together.

Here is what we are working on in our core subjects.

Math: This week in math we evaluated expressions and wrote and solved equations. Additionally, we learned two properties of multiplication: The Distributive and Associative Property. We will practice these skills again next week and will take our test on Wednesday, January 15th.

Reading: We are reading various works of fiction. This week we read a play about two bears that did not listen to their mother. Thankfully, a very brave inch worm saved the day. Next week we will reading a chapter book together as a class!

Social Studies: We learned about The Central Market, Wheatland Estate, and The Hans Herr House. Next week we will be wrapping up our unit by researching The Conestoga Wagon.

Writing: This week in writing we practiced writing a concluding sentence for our short answer responses and we reviewed contractions.

  • January 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day; NO SCHOOL

12/16 Update

I can’t believe this is the last week of school before our Holiday break! Here is what we are learning this week in school.

Math: We will be taking our last multiplication and division test on Tuesday. Our next chapter is on equations and expressions.

Reading: Finding the central message has been our focus for this unit in our ELA curriculum. We read Stone Soup and identified what lesson the author was trying to teach us. We also wrote our own story with a central message. The kids wrote the story from the Point of View of a snowman.

Social Studies: We are learning about Lancaster County history. We will be exploring places like Central Market and Wheatland Estate.

This week is flying by! I can’t believe we are one week away from Thanksgiving! Here is what we are learning in third grade.
