Beach Day Fun!

We had an awesome day for our Beach Day despite the not so nice weather! The kids enjoyed the inside activities and had so much fun! Thank you so much to the parents who volunteered their time to help out. I can’t do it without all of your help! Also, a special thank you to the parents that sent in freeze pops for us . Check out some of the pictures from our day…

Beach Day Reminders for Friday

Just a reminder:

Friday, May 27th is Beach Day!

Your child should wear his or her bathing suit to school under his or her clothing and bring a towel.  Students will not be permitted to change into their bathing suits at school, they should already have them on their bodies.  Please have sunscreen on your child before sending them to school.  Hats and/or sunglasses are also permitted!

(We do not have a rain date scheduled so a modified day will occur inside if rain is predicted.  Parent helpers may still attend if we have inclement weather. Reminder…only APPROVED VOLUNTEERS will be permitted to attend. Thank you for your help!

Summer Reading – Barnes & Noble

Students in grades 1 through 6 are eligible to participate in Barnes & Noble’s Summer Reading Program.

  1. Read any eight books this summer and record them on the Summer Reading Journal (paper attached).
Tell which part of the book was your favorite and why.
  2. Bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between July 1 and August 31, 2022.
  3. Choose your free reading adventure from the books listed.

Schedule Changes – Reading Groups

As you are aware, your child has not brought home a new book in his or her green folder as regularly as they have previously. This is due to several reasons: PSSA testing was happening and we had whole group lessons rather than small group lessons, there have been days that supports were needed elsewhere and our schedule changed in the classroom, and currently, we are wrapping up the year and working on end-of-year assessments. All of this to say, we are still reading and writing it’s just happening in different ways. You may still have your child continue to practice reading and doing high-frequency words but they will no longer earn stars or prizes for doing so!

Finally, please continue to have your child read and write throughout the summer so all that they have learned is not lost! We have made great progress this year and you should be proud of your little readers and writers! Thank you for your support and for encouraging reading and writing at home.
