Week of May 26-29

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
For this coming week, your child will have an assignment that will bring closure to 4th grade and open up the door to 5th grade! The assignment is only posted on my 4-Rios Homeroom Google Classroom. Your child knows how to access this, and I sent out a more detailed email about it earlier this week.

Just a reminder that student laptops will be allowed to be kept at your home over the summer.  When we return to school, please be prepared to bring those, with the power cord, along with your Storytown book and any library books you may still have, back to school with you. We really appreciate your help with this!  Thank you!

I will be hosting one more Google Hangout Meet next week.  I would LOVE to see you all then!  Wednesday, May 27  Homeroom Google Classroom at 11:00.    Your child can go to our Homeroom Google Classroom and click on the link in the picture at the top to the left.  Remember, your child must be logged into his/her PM account to access the meeting.

Please remember to check the Hambright Blog, regularly.  This is where you will find all the latest updates and postings from Mr. Howe and Dr. Mealy.

Have a safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend!

Week of May 18-22

It’s hard to believe, but we are winding down this most unusual school year.  Again, I have appreciated your help and support as we have navigated this situation together.
The assignments for the week of May 18th will be the last official ones put out by the district for the school year.  For the week of the 25th, your child will be given an assignment that will bring closure to our 4th grade year.  More to come on that later.
Student laptops will be allowed to be kept at your home over the summer.  When we return to school, please be prepared to bring those, with the power cord, along with your Storytown book and any library books you may still have, back to school with you. We really appreciate your help with this!  Thank you!
New assignments will be posted later this afternoon, but my advice to you and your fourth grader once again, is to continue to relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend and don’t begin these until Monday.  I have again included an optional schedule for you to use with your child if that would make things easier for you.

I strongly suggest that you use the 4th Grade Shared Google Classroom for these assignments!!  There you will find a more user-friendly version of the same material.  I want this last week of new instruction to be a positive and successful one!
****PREFERRED METHOD FOR THE COMING WEEK!****
You can access the activities on the 4th Grade Shared Learning Google Classroom,  4th Grade Shared Google Classroom.  Once there, click on CLASSWORK at the top, and find the activities for the week. You can also use the district remote site, but again, I encourage you to use the Google Classroom!
https://sites.google.com/pennmanor.net/remotelearning/elementary/fourth-grade.

I will be hosting another Google Hangout Meet next week.  I love seeing you all and answering your questions!  Please review the guidelines posted about Google Hangout Meet etiquette.  Wednesday, May 20  Homeroom Google Classroom at 11:00.  This will be a meet to connect and answer any questions you may have about the assignments. Week of May 11-15

Thank you all for another great week!  I continue to be amazed and impressed with the students and how well they have adapted to this new world of learning over the past seven weeks.  You are all, parents and students alike, to be congratulated for your support, flexibility, and willingness to try in this unexpected situation.  Thank you!

This blog post is pretty much the same as last week’s with just updated dates and a little new information.

I will be heading into school next week to “pack up” the classroom for the summer.  Teachers have been instructed to place all students’ belongings into bags marked with their names.  These bags will be placed together by teacher name.  When school reopens, or at another time designated by the administration, students will be able to pick up their bags.  Fourth graders, I will do my best to place everything from your desk and your cubby into your bag.  There will also be some of your artwork in there from Mrs. Wigerman.

Kids, don’t forget that Sunday is a very special day!!  I have again included an optional schedule for you to use with your child if that would make things easier for you.  It is at the bottom of this blog.  You do not have to use this schedule!  Whatever works for you and your family is great!

2.      You can also access the activities on the 4th Grade Shared Learning Google Classroom, 4th Grade Shared Google Classroom.  Once there, click on CLASSWORK at the top, and find the activities for the week.             If one of these ways does not work for you, try the other way.

Reading and Writing activities get shared with Mrs. Rios and/or Mrs. Wall; math activities get shared with Mr. Showalter, and Science and Social Studies activities get shared with Mrs. Rios.  In addition to these activities, there are optional activities posted from Miss Wilcox on the Homeroom Google Classroom.

Here is an update so you know what to expect next week.  New assignments have been, or will soon be, posted, but my advice to you and your fourth grader once again, is to continue to relax and enjoy the the weekend and don’t begin these until Monday. It looks like beautiful weather is in the forecast!
I have again attached an optional schedule for you to use with your child if that would make things easier for you.  It is attached to this email.  You do not have to use this schedule, but I would strongly suggest that you try it, as it breaks the work down into manageable chunks and is organized for each day of the week.  If you and your child prefer not to use it, that is totally fine too.  Whatever works for you and your family is great!

Once again, there are two ways you can access the assignments for the week.
1.    If you navigate from the district remote learning site, https://sites.google.com/pennmanor.net/remotelearning/elementary/fourth-grade,you will no longer need to remember to make a copy of the each assigned document before writing on it.  When you click on the assignment, you will automatically be prompted to make a copy. Then you will work on that copy and share it with me,  Mrs. Amy Wall, or Mr. Bradley Showalter.

This is a copy that has already been made for you, so when you are done, simply share with the appropriate teacher (see above and below).  For the Reading assignment on Google Classroom, just follow the directions on the instruction page for completing the assignment.  It is a little different format-wise on Google Classroom from than on the remote site.
