February 10-14

~We continue collecting labels for our Race for Education benefiting the PTO!! Please participate if you can by filling out as many address labels as you are able. Think family, friends, and neighbors! Thanks in advance for your support!
~February is Kindness month! We will be making a door decoration, writing compliments on our valentines envelopes, and continuing to listen to our favorite fourth grade song, “Speak Life”!
~Speaking of February, we will be exchanging valentines on Friday. Students are not required to distribute valentines, but if they do, they are asked to please give one to each member of the class. Class lists were distributed this week.

Reading–We continue Unit 4, which is a fiction unit. This week we will continue using the “Somebody-Wanted-But-So-Then” strategy to summarize fiction. We also learned how to make inferences (educated guesses) in the stories we are reading. Please support these skills as you discuss your child’s independent reading with him/her at home. We read the story Firestorm and will be discussing it early next week. Please use the ELA tab above if you would like to review this story with your child. We will also complete a TDA that goes with this story, so reading it more than once would be very beneficial.
Spelling – Lesson 19 list will be distributed Monday, and the test will be Friday, 2/14.
Writing – We continue our Verbs unit which is being led by Miss Wilcox.
Content – 4R students continue a science unit with Miss Szentesy this week.
Please look for Math updates to come from Mr. Showalter.
