Super Wednesday Is Coming!

Super Wednesday On Wednesday, October 16th, we will be running an adjusted schedule.  During that time, students will engage in testing and/or counselor presentations.  Juniors will have an opportunity to take the PSAT for free.  This test is great preparation for the students taking the SAT and also an opportunity to get scholarships for post-secondary education.  Sophomores will be taking the PLAN test, a preparatory test for the ACT.  Freshmen will have a class meeting and hear presentations on four year planning and Career Cruising.  Seniors will have a class meeting and should report to the auditorium at a time TBD.

SAT Prep Course

images (2)Are you nervous about taking the SAT? Penn State Lancaster is holding an SAT preparation course for students planning to take the test in December. It will include vocabulary study, a review of math, critical reading skills, essay writing techniques, and test anxiety management. Registration forms are located in the Counseling Office. The course starts October 29th, so pick up your forms soon!

National Christian College Fair

images (1)Thinking about going to a Christian College? Please attend the National Christian College Fair, coming to Lancaster on October 7th. This opportunity will allow you to meet many representatives from some of the top Christian Colleges in North America and think about college opportunities available to you. You will also be able to attend workshops for college transition and financial aid. If you’re interested, come to the Counseling Office for more information.

Health Careers and Global Entrepreneurship Information Sessions

imagesAre you a sophomore or junior thinking about a career in business, leadership, international relations, or the healthcare industry? You are invited to attend an information session being held on Thursday, October 10th. At this meeting you’ll learn about the University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy and the Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship. To learn more, pick up a flyer in the Counseling Office. These are the programs that were formerly known as the Pennsylvania Governor’s Schools and are excellent opportunities. 

Summer Program Opportunities

IU13Current sophomores and juniors interested in experiential summer program opportunities in the healthcare industry, business, leadership and international relations are encouraged to attend an informational session held on Thursday, October 10th from 7-8pm  at the Conference & Training Center at IU 13, Burle Business Park, 1020 New Holland Avenue, Lancaster.   If possible, please contact Janice Estabrook, gifted education and enrichment coordinator, if you are planning to attend at 606-1732 or janice_estabrook@iu13.org

Hershey Gardens Scholarship Competition

volunteerDo you have a green thumb? Is garden planning an interest of yours? Then you should think about participating in the Hershey Gardens Scholarship Competition. Students in grades 10 through 12 are invited to compete for scholarship money and a chance for your design to be displayed at Hershey Gardens. You can work in groups of up to 4 people.  Registration is due November 15th. For more information, please come to the Counseling Office or e-mail education@hersheygardens.org.

Penn State College of Art and Architecture

aamainThe Penn State College of Art and Architecture is holding a Fall Visit Day at the University Park campus on Monday, October 14th, 2013. Students are invited to attend to look into different degree programs and facilities available in the College of Arts and Architecture. ACE Mentoring Program

ACE_logoAll students interested in a career in Architecture, Construction and Engineering are invited to join the ACE Mentoring Program. Through this program, students will have the chance to learn about a career in the building industry and put their skills to the test in a building project.
