U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (FEMA) seeking applicants
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking applicants for its Youth Preparedness Council.
The Youth Preparedness Council is a unique opportunity for youth leaders to serve on a highly distinguished national council and participate in the Youth Preparedness Council Summit. Additionally, the youth leaders have the opportunity to complete a self-selected youth preparedness project and to share their opinions, experiences, ideas, solutions and questions regarding youth disaster preparedness with the leadership of FEMA and national youth preparedness organizations. Community Service Option
If you still need community service hours for your graduation project please stop in the counseling office to pick up information on two new opportunities. The Lancaster County Central Park is looking for students to assist the naturalists with the maple sugaring demonstrations. Also, Furever home adoption center needs volunteers to work with their animal shelter in East Petersburg.
Military Night
Save the Date: May 7, 2014 Hempfield High School will be holding a Military Night at 7pm in Performing Arts Center. (posters will be available in the near future to advertise in your school) This opportunity is open to anyone in Lancaster County and surrounding areas. The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard and Coast Guard will present information regarding opportunities in their branch. At the end of the evening there will be time to meet with individual branches and get further information/questions answered!
Health and Sciences Summer Camp
Now is the time to plan how you will spend your summer! Everyone should consider volunteering or attending special programs, camps etc! An excellent opportunity is the Health and Biomedical Sciences Summer Camp, which will be held at Lebanon Valley College from June 22-27 and July 6-11, 2014. The goal of the Health and Biomedical Sciences Summer Camp is to provide a window into the scientific basis of human health. Please stop in the counseling office for information on this camp if you are interested in a health care career!
