New ‘Gates Scholarship’ to Offer Full Ride to 300 Students of Color

This new scholarship is a great opportunity for high school students who are Hispanic, from low-income backgrounds looking to attend college because it has full coverage of all college expenses. The Gates Scholarship not only covers college tuition, but also covers fees, housing, books and other costs! Winners will be selected based on their academic record, leadership, and other criteria which includes interviews, essays and recommendations.  The application for this scholarship needs to be in by September 15, 2017. SAT Preparation Course

York College is offering two sessions in the fall of their SAT Preparation Course.  Each session includes 5 meetings held on Monday evenings from 6-9 p.m.  The meetings all take place on the York College campus.  The fee is $170 and covers all instruction and materials, including a home study guide.  If you are interested more information can be found in the Counseling office or you can call the Center for Community Engagement at York College at 717-815-1451 or email oced@ycp.edu

ACE: Architecture, Construction, and Engineering

The program is open to 9th through 12th grade students, who are interested in learning more about a career in the building industry. Promising students from the program can receive scholarships for college through the ACE program.

The Big Virtual College Admissions Fair On September 25th, isThe Big Virtual – College Admissions Fair at the school. We’re expecting several hundred colleges to attend and strongly recommend you participate in the event. Chances are your dream school will be present at the fair. At the virtual fair you will interact with department heads of your favorite college using tools you’re familiar with such as live streaming, text, and video chat. Penn Manor’s Education Day College Fair will be Monday, November 6th in the Central Complex from 11:00-1:00. Many of these Colleges will also be at Conestoga Valley High School in the evening for the College Fair and Career Pathways event open to the public.

Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, U Penn, and Stanford
September 28th, in Allentown, PA. Representatives from the above five universities will conduct brief slide presentations about their institution and answer your questions about the sometimes-mystifying world of college admissions.
