ACT’s Guide to a Successful Sophomore Year

Are you a sophomore student confused about what you should be doing this year to prepare yourself for life after high school?

As a reminder, on October 11th all sophomore students will be taking the Pre-ACT at Penn Manor High School. The Pre-ACT provides students with the opportunity to become familiar with college entrance testing as well as gives students an idea on how they would do on the actual ACT. In addition, the Pre-ACT includes an interest inventory which will align students’ interests to college and career paths.

YTI Career Institute Motorcycle Technology Center

Attention all seniors- On Friday, October 13th from 10am-2pm, all high school seniors are invited to tour the Motorcycle Technology Center at YTI Career Institute. Students will get the chance to tour the Motorcycle Technology Center, learn about the Motorsports Technology program, get details on career services, Financial Aid and Students Services, as well as enjoy a FREE lunch! They will also get to participate in tire change, valve adjustment, dyno and hands-on torque demos. All students must call 1-800-564-8038 to RSVP by October 6th. Space is limited! 

Financial Aid Night

On Thursday October 12th students, parents and guardians are invited to the high school auditorium at 6:30 PM to learn how to apply for all types of financial aid, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required to determine eligibility for most student aid programs

Plan on attending this informative session sponsored by the PHEAA (Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency) and the Counseling office. Topics will include:
How to plan and pay for college and career schools
Resources available to students and parents
Scholarships
Upcoming Career and College related events

National Christian College Fair

If you are a student interested in learning more about the financial aid process and how to make a Christian College or University education affordable, there is a great opportunity for you! On Thursday, October 5th from 7-9 pm Lancaster County Christian School is having a college fair and they are hosting over 30 Christian Colleges for you to learn more about.

Dual Enrollment- Spring

The dual enrollment meeting for students interested in taking a class in Spring 2018 will be October 18th in the library.  Students should be excused from clubs to attend this meeting. Students who have already taken a dual enrollment course need to attend this meeting if they are applying for a course for Spring 2018. This meeting will go over any updates to the dual enrollment process.

Skilled Women get STEM Jobs (Field Trip Opportunity)

9th grade-12th grade Girls at Penn Manor, you are invited to TWIST with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology on Thursday, October 5th, 9 a.m. – 1:30p.m. (Field Trip leaves from 8:30 and will return by 2:00).

Interested in Taking the ASVAB?

The Fall 2021 ASVAB will be held on Wednesday, October 13th at Penn Manor High School. The ASVAB is offered to Junior and Senior students only.

The ASVAB is a test used for military entrance as well as for further career development. The ASVAB has eight test areas: General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information and Mechanical Comprehension. The test will help you identify your skills in various areas and link them to careers of your interest.

College Board Account- Email Changes

Did you set up your Collegeboard account with @student.pennmanor.net email address? Student email address are now just @pennmanor.net.  The deadline to sign-up for the October SAT is this friday, September 8th 2017. To change the email address associated with your college board account:

To update your personal information, including your email address:

  1. Go to the College Board homepage and sign in to your account.
  2. Click Account Settings. For security, you may be asked to sign in again.
  3. When you’re done updating your information, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Update.

If you forget your password:

  1. Click “Forgot Password” and use the security questions to change your password,
  2. Follow the steps above to change your email address

If you forgot your password and don’t know the answers to your security questions

  1. Call the student help line 1-866-756-7346
  2. As the agent on the helpline to change your email address
  3. You can then get online to reset your password using the updated email address or you can ask the agent for a temporary password.
