Virtual Tours with Attollo

Juniors and Seniors:
Please read the email below from Attollo and feel free to join them for the virtual tours.

Attollo (a college access and leadership program based in Lancaster, PA) has been facilitating virtual college tours. During the last two weeks, they have provided 107 attendees the opportunity to visit 21 colleges and universities and hear from 23 different college representatives.

Through this process, they have rediscovered the importance of college exposure, especially during this time. As a result, they have decided to visit 60 colleges and universities this summer. They have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the attendees and are extending the invitation to all rising juniors and seniors at Penn Manor. Below, you will see an image of the 36 remaining colleges and universities you are encouraged to join!

Logistics:

Attollo is excited to embark on virtual college tours with you this summer. The tours will be taking place late July to mid-August Mondays-Thursdays. Each session will consist of 3 tours and will start at 10:00 AM and will end between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM. We encourage you to sign up for at least five sessions to see a healthy range of schools.

During the tours, you may have the opportunity to hear from college admissions officers, college students, and local professionals. Thursday’s will be our interest-specific tours, which will consist of additional networking opportunities. You will receive the zoom link via email the day before your scheduled sessions. Below you can find a sample itinerary of what each session will entail.

Powered by VisitDays, the NACAC Virtual College Fairs platform is designed from the ground up to provide meaningful interactions between students and college representatives. Students get the chance to learn about different institutions via a mobile experience that is totally intuitive, informative, interactive, and fun.

Penn Manor students— join in on the first ever Summer Skill Up hosted by IBM’s P-TECH team! 4 weeks, 8 sessions and a ton of learning! Join us throughout the month of July on Career Tuesdays for a deep dive into careers and Think Thursdays to explore professional skills. Get the full experience with all eight sessions (or register for single sessions below). Each session is about an hour long, and we promise these aren’t your average webinars. You’ll learn with students from all over the world and some of the best experts we’ve got!

Career Tuesdays
: Tuesdays are all about the possibilities. You’ll learn from IBMers about various careers in technology, marketing, sales, and more. Presenters will share their journey, give you a sneak peek into their day-to-day, and offer tips/tricks or advice as you navigate your own journey. You will leave these sessions with a better understanding of different careers and how to start different career pathways.

Think Thursdays: Thursdays are all about developing essential professional skills. Hands-on development will leave you with the tools to begin applying your new skills like goal setting, financial literacy, and personal branding through resumes & LinkedIn right away. You will leave with new or strengthened skills and action steps to take in order to continue growing.

  • Morning Sessions- 9-10am and 10:30-11:30am
  • Afternoon Sessions- 1-2pm and 2:30-3:30pm

Session Topics

We are planning to offer between 15 and 20 different session topics for students and families to select from. Some example sessions include:

  • College Admissions Fundamentals
  • Paying for College
  • Doing Virtual College Research
  • Writing A Great College Essay
  • Finding Success In College
  • And so many more!

There will also be two virtual college panels, featuring representatives from colleges across the Commonwealth.

Platform

We will be using Zoom conference to provide all of our sessions. It is a free platform that can be accessed on any phone, tablet, or computer. Attendees must have a device that accesses Zoom. Attendees wishing to earn completion credit must also have access to Zoom’s video feature.

Certificates of Completion

For any attendee, we are offering the opportunity to earn a certificate of completion. If this is something you are interested in earning, you must have access to Zoom’s video feature, and you must attend sessions during each timeslot, for all 5 days of the program. This would be a great way for Juniors to fulfill the College Visit requirement for the Penn Manor Graduation Project.

Juniors and Seniors- Sign up for Virtual Camp College July 27-31!

Planning to go to a four year college? Not sure what exactly you need to be doing to be prepared and on track? Want to help your student select and apply to college? Please consider signing up for CAMP COLLEGE!

This is a FREE event and there is a maximum capacity so register asap to reserve your spot.

Camp College is typically a residential experience providing rising high school juniors and seniors with a comprehensive college prep curriculum over the course of three days and two nights. During the program, students are immersed in an array of meaningful experiences to expose them to the nuances of the college selection and application process, including but not limited to:  Scholarships and financial aid, dorm life, meeting admissions representatives, using your school counselor effectively, etc.  The program is designed to assist students who have limited access to college guidance, with a specific focus on low-income, underrepresented, first-generation students from throughout the Commonwealth who have a desire to attain a postsecondary degree. This year, Camp College will be on a virtual platform during the week of July 27-July 31.

Info Session on Student Loans! Educate yourself!

Understanding the cost of student loan borrowing: This presentation covers financial literacy topics such as the relative cost of a student loan, loan repayment tools, and tips on managing student loans. It identifies important things students should know about their loan portfolio, identifying their servicers and understanding the cost of their student loan.

Financial Aid Info Sessions Offered

Representatives from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Agency (PHEAA) will be providing an overview of how to apply for all types of financial aid, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required to determine eligibility for most student aid programs such as the Pennsylvania State Grant, Federal Pell Grant, institutional offers, and federal student and parent loans. This will also be a great opportunity to have PHEAA representatives answer questions you may have.
