ASC’s Summer Intensive is a FREE, rigorous 6-week coding education program that embeds mentorship and personal & professional life skills instruction- all in a fun, engaging virtual environment. Laptops & WiFi hotspots are provided to every enrolled scholar & devices are the students’ to keep at the conclusion of the program. Scholars will earn $15/hr stipends to participate. For the 2023 Summer Intensive Program, thanks to the generosity of The Steinman Foundation & Lancaster County STEM Alliance, 40 fully-funded slots are available to Lancaster County students & registration is open! Who can apply for the Summer Intensive?A Scholar who is a rising 9-12th grade student OR 2023 HS graduate A Scholar who identifies as a male student of color Willingness to engage in ASC’s 3 pillars: Dare Greatly, Celebrate Failure & Tell Your Story Interest but not necessarily experience in coding, computer science, technology & entrepreneurship GPA is NOT evaluated for consideration in the program Students with IEPs and English Language Learners are encouraged to apply! They’ll benefit from an in-person Summer Intensive Coordinator available to support their virtual learning, experience an industry leader’s incredible environment and hear from Cargas team members first-hand. Monday, November 1st in the East Gym
Parents and students are invited to attend Penn Manor Education Day on November 1st, 2021. Over 100 admission representatives will be here from two and four year colleges, technical, nursing and business schools in the East Gym. This is a great opportunity to speak to admission counselors and ask questions about the various Career Preparatory Programs and Colleges from around the East Coast. Learn about entrance requirements, financial aid, campus life and academic programs. NEW additions include local workforces sharing career information and job opportunities.
The event time will be 11:15am -1:15pm- during Block 3 and lunches.
Parents are welcome and can enter through the main office.

Employment Opportunity for Students Planning to Attend Millersville University
Seniors: Are you planning to attend Millersville University this fall? Are you interested in finding work on campus? If so, the Millersville University Store welcomes applicants to work in the University Store beginning the summer of 2019 and continuing into the fall semester. The position would include duties such as working a cash register, stocking shelves, helping customers, and other tasks. Wages start at $7.25 an hour. Shreiner Tree Care: 2019 Student Internship Program
Seniors: Are you interested in working outdoors after graduating? Does a career in landscaping interest you? If so, make sure to check out Shreiner Tree Care’s 2019 Student Internship Program! Areas of focus will include plant health care, tree pruning, large truck driving, customer service, and much more. Stop down in the counseling office to pick up a flyer!
ABC Keystone Apprenticeship Program
Do you like a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training? Are you interested in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, or sheet metal work, among other trades? If so, make sure to check out the Apprenticeship Program through Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC). Benefits of this program include earning college credits at HACC and receiving a salary! Stop down in the counseling office to pick up a flyer.
Post-Secondary Training Event for Seniors!
What: Representatives from a variety of local businesses, industries, and colleges will provide information about their short-term training and educational opportunities available to students after graduating high school. HACC, CTC, Thaddeus Stevens, and the National Guard are among the participants who plan to attend. This is a great way to learn about your options and introduce yourself to representatives!

What: Do you have a resume that needs some fine-tuning? Have you participated in academic and extracurricular experiences that you aren’t sure how to incorporate into your resume? PA Work Aware/Skill Up Senior Seminar
Attention all current seniors: The counseling department invites you to join us in the library on Thursday, February 21st during homeroom for a PA Work Aware/Skill Up seminar. This online program allows you to complete modules and earn industry-recognized credentials that could make you a more desirable candidate for employment! Make sure to bring your computer, as you will learn how to use the Metrix Learning Online program to develop an individualized work preparedness plan. Make sure to sign up here, and you will get a pass from your block 1 teacher to attend.

Ronnie Medlock, VP of Technical Services for High Steel Structures will present about his journey and how he landed in his role at HighSteel, as well as the positions that they generally recruit for at Steel in particular. In addition, staff from the HR department will present on soft skills required for a solid interview experience, an idea of compensation and benefits for the roles discussed.
Following the Career Seminar, individual students will have an opportunity to sign up to tour the facility in the future.

9th grade-12th grade Girls at Penn Manor, you are invited to TWIST with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology on Thursday, October 5th, 9 a.m. – 1:30p.m. (Field Trip leaves from 8:30 and will return by 2:00).
