Summer Youth Summit : Paid Opportunity with Touchstone Foundation

The Rise Above: Eliminating Stigma in Youth Mental Wellness youth summit is a collaboration between the Touchstone Foundation and The Hood Hippie Love Yourself.

The goal for this summit is to help high school students gain new skills and connect them to resources for mental health in Lancaster County. Over the course of 4 weeks students will be introduced to new topics and themes and hear from professionals and local creatives. Students will be able to learn from each other and their Safe Space Coordinators (facilitators of the workshops).

This summer the Touchstone Foundation is partnering with YWCA Lancaster, to provide students with a 4-week summer intensive. Our program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays (8 sessions) throughout the month of July into the first week of August.

Tuesdays, 10am-3pm: July 11th, July 18th, July 25th and August 1st

Thursday, 10am-3pm:  July 13th, July 20th, July 27th and August 3rd

This is a paid opportunity for students to learn, engage and grow. To receive the monetary award, participants must attend all 4 weeks of the intensive with the allotment of one excused absence. Students will be asked to provide detailed feedback on the program and fill out an informational survey from Pennsylvania Care Partnership.

West Point Summer Leaders Experience

On Wednesday, March 15th, West Point Admissions is hosting a Facebook Live session covering our Summer Leaders Experience (SLE), a one week summer camp in June at West Point. At SLE, students get to live in the barracks, eat in the mess hall, experience academic workshops, and complete two military days. Students enjoy making friends and working closely with West Point Cadets. Students may sign up at westpoint.edu. Log into the Facebook Page “West Point Admissions” at 6pm to hear all about SLE.

IU13 offers challenge, learning, and fun through its summer programs for students. Each camp is set up as an enrichment opportunity that requires teamwork, flexibility, and social interaction on the part of campers. Challenging concepts are explored in fun, interactive ways. This summer, favorite camps are being offered again and new camps are being introduced!

This summer there are two outdoor enrichment camps that need volunteers:
Survival in the Wilderness – 3-Day Camp

We are looking for responsible student volunteers, entering Grades 9-12 or college students, who are good role models and will engage with all campers in a positive way while embracing the guidance offered by camp instructors and IU13 staff. Aviation Camp

There is  an exciting opportunity for Lancaster County high school students interested in aviation, engineering, mechanics and more. In partnership with EMU Aviation, Aero-Tech Services & Lancaster County STEM Alliance- we are thrilled to bring you A-TEAM (Aviation- technicians, engineers, aviators & mechanics)!

This three-day experience will take place on June 22nd, 23rd & 24th from 9 AM- 1:30 PM at the Lancaster Airport. Aviation camp is FREE, but spots are limited. Interested students entering grades 9 through 12 should submit 1-3 paragraphs on why they want to attend. They should apply via the link below. These three days of hands-on, immersive learning will even include a discovery flight! Transportation support may be available for students with need. 

Cost: Free Lunch will be provided.

Messiah University is offering their annual Young Writer’s Workshop, Young Filmmaker’s Workshop and Psychology Camp for the summer of 2022. All three workshops will be held on June 19-24, 2022 in person on campus.

The Filmmakers‘ and Writers‘ Workshops enhance student’s creativity, help them understand the future demands of college life and, most importantly, improve their abilities as writers and filmmakers. The Psychology Camp encourages students to explore their own ideas about psychology and biopsychology. All of the options offer a fun experience on a college campus this summer. Both resident and commuter options are available. Cost is between $575 and $699 depending on the camp and housing selection.

A Summer Camp Experience Introducing Girls to Careers in Construction!

Construction – It’s Not Just for Boys!

Careers in Construction offer competitive salaries, unparalleled skills, potential for leadership growth, and a feeling of satisfaction.

ABC Keystone encourages young women to learn more about these career opportunities during the Chapter’s All ’bout Construction Girls Camp open to girls ages 14-19* and scheduled for June 13-16, 2022.

The All ’bout Construction Girls Camp provides girls the opportunity to explore careers in construction through inspiration and mentoring from industry professionals. Campers will experience several construction trades as they build skills through multiple hands-on activities. Through other individual and group activities, the girls will also gain effectiveness in problem solving and managing team dynamics. Field trips with local contractors are scheduled throughout the four-day camp to ensure campers get to see construction in action. At the ABC Keystone training facility, attendees will utilize their newly-gained knowledge of select trades to build their very own take-home projects!

*This camp is grant-funded through the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board. Priority will be given to first-time campers and residents of Lancaster County.

Who Can Attend?

SHP 2022 is designed for high school students currently in tenth or eleventh grade who will be juniors and seniors next fall. We do, however, encourage highly motivated and confident ninth grade students (sophomores in the fall) to apply.
