Ronnie Medlock, VP of Technical Services for High Steel Structures will present about his journey and how he landed in his role at HighSteel, as well as the positions that they generally recruit for at Steel in particular. In addition, staff from the HR department will present on soft skills required for a solid interview experience, an idea of compensation and benefits for the roles discussed.

Following the Career Seminar, individual students will have an opportunity to sign up to tour the facility in the future.

The LCSWMA is one of the leading employers in Penn Manor School District.  They employee in a variety of fields from skill labor jobs to advanced scientists and business staff. They will present on Careers at LCSWMA and also highlight  interviewing and soft skills to help students prepare to enter the workforce.

Following the Career Seminar, individual students will have an opportunity to sign up to tour the facility in the future.

Early Enrollment at Thaddeus Stevens

What is Thaddeus Sevens Early Enrollment Program? With the early enrollment program, students simultaneously complete their senior year of high school while also completing their freshman year major courses at Thaddeus Stevens College on a full time basis. Academic eligibility is determined by students taking the COMPASS placement test. ThaddeusStevens(1)Students must score at the college level to pursue early enrollment. Early enrollment
students are charged a reduced rate for tuition and are not required to pay the application fee. One year after enrolling, students graduate from Penn Manor high school with a diploma while also having completed one year of an associate degree.

Tuition is 50% off for early enrollment and students may be eligible for financial aid

Interested students need to attend the information session on Tuesday November 7th  2017 at 10:30am (homeroom) in the Penn Manor guidance office.  Sign-up is required. Skilled Women get STEM Jobs (Field Trip Opportunity)

9th grade-12th grade Girls at Penn Manor, you are invited to TWIST with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology on Thursday, October 5th, 9 a.m. – 1:30p.m. (Field Trip leaves from 8:30 and will return by 2:00).

Career Seminar: Humankind and Water Management

What is Admissions Decision Day? 

Admissions Decision Day means that a student will meet one-on-one with an Admissions rep here at Penn Manor High School. During this one-on-one meeting the student will find out if he/she got into the university. *Art and Music Majors will require an additional review process. In that case, the Admissions rep at the event will explain the process to the students and provide feedback on their application. Dress nicely for the event, you will be meeting with the admissions representatives. Dress to impress!

Sign online up with the PHMS Counseling office at the link  at least a week before the event (see deadlines above). You only need to sign up online once and mark all schools you will be applying to.

Application Tips:

  1. Dress clean and professionally on the day of the event to meet with the admissions reps
  2. Bring a copy of your first marking period report card and/or letters of recommendations if you need that additional competitive edge or need to supplement for low grades in the past.

Test Scores: If you already have your test results, the PMHS Counselors will provide it if you have signed-up online. If you are schedule to take them in the future, please Request your SAT through and/or ACT scores through

Transcripts: If you have signed up online, the PMHS Counselors will provide it to the college if you have signed-up online.

The Big Virtual College Admissions Fair On September 25th, isThe Big Virtual – College Admissions Fair at the school. We’re expecting several hundred colleges to attend and strongly recommend you participate in the event. Chances are your dream school will be present at the fair. At the virtual fair you will interact with department heads of your favorite college using tools you’re familiar with such as live streaming, text, and video chat. Penn Manor’s Education Day College Fair will be Monday, November 6th in the Central Complex from 11:00-1:00. Many of these Colleges will also be at Conestoga Valley High School in the evening for the College Fair and Career Pathways event open to the public.

Career Seminars Spring 2017

This spring we will have three Career Seminars open to students 9th-12th grade: Computing Careers, Art and Engineering portfolio, and Education. Read the descriptions and sign up for one or more at the link at the bottom of this post.


Career Seminar on Design (Art & Architecture) March, 27th
Several college majors require a portfolio as a part of the admissions process. If you are interested in architecture, fine arts, photography, Fashion and Design, Commerical/Graphic Arts, Civil Engineering or other majors which might require a portfolio, than this career seminar is for you.

College 101: Tools for all future paths


The 2017 College 101 event is Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30 pm in the High School Library.   

Everything you need to know about the admissions process from college reps and school counselors for grades for students grades 9th, 10th, and 11th. After the general college information about the college search, application timeline, and college entrance essay writing, there will be breakout sessions for students and families by grade:

“How to Make the Common App ‘Not So Common”  For 11th graders planning on attending a 4 year college about the components of applying to college, and more details about what and to include in applications.

“Become a Star applicant”  For 9th &10th graders who have a strong idea about what they want to study in college, this session will reveal what college admission reps look for beyond grades and GPA.

“New Economy, New Skills: What Success Looks like in the 21st Century” For 9th, 10th, & 11th graders who aren’t sure of their career path, this session will explore skill-based jobs that are in high demand in Lancaster County and how to get training for the future.

  • FAFSA Completion – throughout the night in room 362 (For 12th graders. Students need to bring their laptop)
