October Mathletes

The Monthly Mathlete award is given to three math students every month from various levels of math classes. These students are nominated and chosen by the Math Department on the basis of their hard work and leadership in the math classroom. They will be recognized by having their pictures posted in the Math Wing for the month, as well as on our blog.

Samantha Hilt has been chosen for this award due to her awesome work ethic and effort. She asks her teacher for answer keys so that she is able to check her work, and she fully utilizes Google classroom in her math class. She contributes to the class through volunteering answers and asking insightful questions. She does not stop at getting right answers, but shows the desire to fully understand all the concepts that are taught
in class. She also gets along well with others and works with them as a team to complete assignments. Keep up the amazing work, Samantha!

Colin DeLeo is receiving this award because he has shown himself to be a leader in the classroom. His grades reflect the hard work and dedication he puts into excelling in Algebra. More than that though, his good-natured competitive spirit impacts the learning in the classroom as a whole. It is also greatly appreciated when he willingly works with other students to help them develop their own skills. Peer tutoring is often the best way for students to learn because hearing another learner’s voice really helps develop understanding. On a daily basis, he shows a quality of character that should be emulated and celebrated.

Colette Evans is receiving this award because she is hard working, diligent and self-advocates when she is unsure. Colette is incredibly dependable and ensures she has all her work completed. Her attention to detail and desire to understand the material is honorable making her an exceptional example for her peers. Her teacher says she is an absolute pleasure to have in class.

Congratulations once again to this month’s winners!
