MIDDLE SCHOOL GENERAL MUSIC
Penn Manor offers general music classes to 7th grade. Below are the units of study during the music portion of the cultural arts rotations. (Marticville 7th grade has general music in the fall semester only; Manor 7th grade has general music in the spring semester only). Students have music for approximately 18 to 22 cycle days.
UNITS OF STUDY
Throughout this unit, students will learn how to read and play on the grand staff, beginner techniques, major scales, c position songs and the making of pianos (Yamaha & Steinway)
Throughout this unit, students will learn the history of the Ukulele, part identification, beginner techniques, C/C7/F/G7/D7/G/Am/Em/E7 chords, music reading and composition.
Science of Music/Film Score
Throughout this mini unit, students will learn the 4 main ways sound affects us, why music is the most influential type of sound, and the importance of film score.
Throughout this mini unit, students will follow the evolution of music technology and sound production beginning in 1877. They will explore different devices including (but not limited to) the Gramophone, Victrola, 8-Track player, Walkman, CD player, 21st century technology.
