Washington College, in Chestertown, MD, is offering the Washington College Academic Tuition Scholarship: a scholarship automatically awarded to National Honor Society members who are accepted into the school.
Beginning fall 2019, the scholarship grants a minimum of $18,000 per year for up to four years while enrolled at Washington College.
The deadline for the NHS Scholarship award is December 7th, and adviser recommendations are due by December 14.
Students who are interested or simply want to look more into Washington College should visit www.washcoll.edu to view all that the college has to offer and explore how it might fall within your education goals.
Night to Shine is a prom experience for teens and adults with special needs. There will be lights, limos, music, food, and a red carpet.
The event will take place on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Manheim BIC Church.
Volunteers are needed as: Paparazzi, Parking Lot Help, Registration, Coat Check, Food Prep, Food Serving, Drink Stations, Coffee Bar, Bussers, Table Hostesses, Karaoke Assistants, Dance Floor Assistants, Limo Assistants, Photo Booth Assistants, Red Carpet Assistants, Ice Cream Parlor Workers, Lounge Helpers, Parent/Caregiver’s Respite & Lounge, Floaters, First-Aide/Personal Care Room Helpers, Set-Up Crew, Tear-Down Crew, and many more!

Attention juniors! Make sure you turn in your Vice President application before next meeting if you are still interested. Many of you picked up a form, but only 1 has been submitted.

All NHS members must have their guidelines turned in by Monday, October 29. If they are turned in after Monday or at the meeting on Thursday, November 1, they will be late! Failure to turn in the guidelines on time will result in receiving a strike.
Please read the previous blog post titled “Water Street Rescue Mission” regarding Water Street shift updates. We are still in need of volunteers for April through August.

The Pancake Breakfast will be held on Saturday, December 15th. This is a required event for all members of NHS. Keep this date available.
Before completing any hours of service you must turn in a pre-approval form in order for the hours to count towards the 25 hour goal.
Other upcoming volunteer opportunities are as follows: The Lancaster County Library, the Millersville Parade, and tutoring.
The Lancaster Public Library is looking for some teen volunteers who
would be willing to help out in various areas, such as shelving, straightening, and forming a Tween/Teen Advisory Board. They would also love to be able to give teens an opportunity to plan and present lessons to younger children.
