Hello Everyone! For those of you who are just coming in to our ensemble and meeting me for the first time: Here is a little bit about your director! 🙂
My name is Sara Masten and I have been the Orchestra Director at the High School since 2008. I also spend the majority of my days teaching general classroom music at Manor and Marticville Middle Schools. I also teach Middle School Strings along side my awesome coworker, Lauren Ciemiewicz. I am a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and made the move to Lancaster in August 2008 to work for Penn Manor. I hold a B.S in Education degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Strings as well as my M.M in Conducting degree from Messiah College. I am hoping to finish advanced graduate work and receive my Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Wind Conducting in 2020. Aside from public school teaching, I teach private string lessons, perform at special events (solo, trio and quartet), and love to watch, coach and play ice hockey! Hiking, cooking and hanging out with friends are some of my favorites as well… oh yes, and coffee! “Where’s my coffee?” is a common quote you’ll hear at the start of block 1 rehearsals. My husband is an 8th grade social studies teacher at Manor Middle. We are very proud parents to our amazing son, Hugh and his furry companion Sidney Easton.
