Students in grades 1-6 flew into the new school year by creating their own unique “wing thing.” Students in grades 4-6 read a book called Wings by Christoper Myers. It is about a boy who learns how to overcome his differences and thrive when he “spreads his wings.” Students then had to create their own “wing thing” to display in a collaborative art installation. Primary students learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and read the book Waiting for Wings by Lois Ehlert. They also created an indidual wing project to display.
Additionally, all of the students in grades 1-6 worked on creating several pairs of GIANT wings to hang around the school. It was a challenge for students to collaborate on the larger wings, but they worked so hard on them and they turned out to be beautiful!
