Team Up!

Red Ribbon Week update from the office:

Leaders stay away from drugs. They are bad for your body and make it hard to do well in school. Drugs do not solve problems…..in fact…..drugs cause problems. Say no to Drugs.

Friday is “Team Up Against Drugs” – Wear Sports jerseys and team gear.

Scholastic Book Orders

Today your child will bring home 4 flyers with Book Orders. They are:  “See Saw” for November, “1st Graders” for November, a Holiday Gift Book catalog, and “Sir Readalot’s Castle.”  The due date is next Friday, October 31.  Orders can be placed online, or in an envelope.  Make selections on the order form, with checks payable to “Scholastic Reading Club.”  Please note that there are other selections available online.  If you click on the tab above, the page for “Book Clubs” will appear.  There you will find more information to navigate to the Book Clubs site. Many other books are available, many more than I receive catalogs for!  When you need gifts for older or younger children, gifts for cousins, etc., they can be found there as well!

Let me know if you have any questions.  Happy Reading!

What Fun!

We had some special guests in our room today.  The animals were all very well-behaved, tame, and had no accidents! 🙂  tee hee.

Thanks for synergizing first grade!  Hard work pays off, and we had a fun end to the week, reading our new library books with our stuffed animals.  Have a wild weekend!

Calling All Stuffed Animals!

Stuffed Animal Day!

Congratulations!  The students earned 25 baseballs on our “Catching Compliments” poster, for the first time this year.  They voted and chose to have a “Stuffed Animal Day.”  This Friday, October 17, each student may bring in 1 (one) stuffed animal to share.  If it is small, and will not cause a distraction, it may stay with the student throughout the day.  We prefer that it fits into the child’s backpack.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by note, phone, or email.

Leader T-Shirts

Leader T-shirts have arrived!  Students who ordered them last month will receive t-shirts at school tomorrow.  If any family is still in need (or want) of a new Leader t-shirt, there will be some available at the Family Fun Night this Friday (6:00-8:00 pm) and also at the next PTO meeting (next Monday, the 20th at 6:30 p.m.).  Thanks PTO!

Math Help and Practice at Home!

Today was exciting in 1-S.  Students learned that they now have access to their math books AT HOME!!!  Please see the brown paper that is in your child’s folder today.  There is information on how to log-on from your home computer.  Each student has an ID and password.  This is taped inside of their take-home folder.  Please see that it remains in that spot for safe-keeping.  Students will have the opportunity to practice math in the classroom in a bit.  For work at home, please give it a try and let me know what you think!

Have fun!  Let me know what you think when you get a chance to try it from home!
