Hat Day

Congratulations!!!  Miss Szentesy’s class was the third place winner for the month in collecting Box Tops!! THANK YOU!!!  Since reaching the next level of collection (1,500!), the class earned a Hat Day.  Please feel free to send a hat to school tomorrow, Thursday, May 26.

Thank you!

Where is Key West?

Because I was not in school last Friday and this Monday, the students are always curious as to my whereabouts.  Yes, Killington, Vermont WAS open for skiing, but that is not where Miss Szentesy spent this weekend.  Quite the opposite!  With temperatures in the 90s (at 10:30 a.m.) and heat index of 99 degrees, I WISH I was able to ski.  That would have been so refreshing!  I ran a 100 mile relay race with some friends (including a fellow Penn Manor elementary teacher!).  The students had many questions about the race and how long it took us to run, where we started, how many “laps” I had to do, etc.  When they saw my medal, many thought that meant that we were the winning team.  They were so cute!  So, click on the link below for more information.  It’s hard to believe we have only ten more days with this fun group… 🙁

Library Book reminder

This Friday, all library books must be returned to Hambright.  Instead of checking out new books, students will have the opportunity to shop at the Book Fair.  Please have your child’s money in an envelope or baggie with their name on it.  And thanks for returning those library books!  As you can imagine, Mrs. Etzweiler and Mrs. Nadig will have a huuuuuge job to do at the end of the school year, making sure that all of the books are here and in the right place!  Thanks for helping them out and thinking win-win!

Graduation!!

Please help spread the word…Any graduating senior from Penn Manor Class of 2016 is invited to walk through the halls of Hambright Elementary School on June 7th at 2:00 pm as we congratulate you on your achievement and wish you well! We hope your accomplishment will inspire our young leaders. Please wear your cap and gown. Former teachers are welcome to join in the celebration as well.

This week….

Reminder that this Thursday (May 12) is Hambright’s “Race for Education.”  Students should wear Leader shirts and be prepared to run, walk, skip, dance, etc. for their hour.  Families are welcome to come join in the fun!  First grade time is 2:00-3:00.

Friday: We have an All-School Opening, the theme is “Hat Day!”  Also…believe it or not, we will be kicking off the summer Olympics.  Students are encouraged to don their red, white, and blue in honor of the USA!!!

Reminder that Friday is also a 1:30 early dismissal!

Race for Education – postponed

Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow, Hambright Leaders will NOT be running tomorrow, Friday, May 6.  We are postponing it to our rain date, next THURSDAY, MAY 12.  We will still run at the same time (2:00-3:00).  Students are encouraged to wear their Leader shirts, shorts/sweatpants, sneakers, and smiles!  Water bottles are not needed.  PTO will be providing water for students as they run.
