PUMPKINS!!!

Thank you soooo much for a wonderful day.  All first graders participated in six different “stations” having to do with pumpkins.  We are extremely grateful to the many family members who came to volunteer their time.  We could not have done this without you!  Take a look below at some of the fun students had with reading, writing, “exercising,” measuring, addition, and subtraction.  Just a LITTLE bit of sweets too! 🙂

Have you heard?

Our class is beginning a special time of our day, “Read to Self.”  The students started by choosing their own books to read.  They are working to build their reading stamina.  Our goal is to read for 20 minutes straight.  How amazing that today, on our very first try, the students were able to read to themselves for SIX minutes without breaking their stamina.  I was blown away!!!  I wish you could hear the silence as they were so focused on their books!  Keep up the proactive behaviors!

Red Ribbon Week

We have the following themes for next week:

10/24 – Monday: Team Up Against Drugs. Wear your favorite sports team apparel.

10/25 – Tuesday: Orange you glad you don’t do drugs (wear orange).

10/26 – Wednesday: Support Red Ribbon week (wear red).

10/27 – Thursday: Be a “Jean-ious” – Don’t DO Drugs (wear jeans).

10/28 – Friday:  Support Penn Manor Pink Out – Wear Pink.

Got Glasses!?

Hambright collects and donates used glasses to the Lions’ Club.  They will then see that the glasses find their way to the hands of the needy.  If you have any old eyeglasses around, please feel free to send them to school at any time.  This is an ongoing donation, so no timeline necessary. Whenever you have old ones to get rid of, send them our way! 🙂

Out again…

I am sorry to say that I am out sick again today.  I most likely will return to the classroom tomorrow, Thursday.  I miss my students so much!!  It’s no fun being away from them.  I know they are in good hands today with Mrs. Jeffers.

Just a reminder that tomorrow students will have a spelling test for “short o” words.
The last call for book orders (online also) will be Thursday as I will place the order that evening.
Friday is our “spirit day” to wear Hambright leader shirts (they are blue, in case you don’t have one but want to still wear navy blue!)

Thank you to the parents who have sent in conference time confirmations.   Still a few more to go!
We are also still in need of some candy corn donations.  Thanks to those who have generously contributed! 🙂
