Buddy Time!

We were excited to learn that our fifth grade buddies are learning about measurement in math class, just as we are!  On Thursday we spent some time using different units to measure objects.  First graders measured length using cubes, while fifth graders measured to the nearest quarter-inch.  It was neat to compare the two units and enrich our math content knowledge!  Thanks fifth grade leaders!

Science Building Blocks!

We were so fortunate to have the Hands-on House present their school program: Science Building Blocks to us today.  Students learned and then explored the force and effects of gravity, magnetism, and light.  Sending a special thank you to our PTO for providing this unique day for us. (and thanks to our parent volunteers who helped facilitate the sessions!)

Missing You!

What a nice 6-day break!  I am getting many small projects completed around the house, but I sure miss my first grade leaders!  I really hope to see you all Thursday!

Bad news:  I will be absent from school on Friday the 17th.  I know my little leprechaun leaders will be wonderful for a substitute teacher.

Good news:  If we have a delay on Thursday, students will have a fun opportunity.  Hambright first graders are permitted to play in the snow!  In order to go out, students must have:  a winter coat, a hat or hood, gloves or mittens, snowpants (or an extra pair of pants to change into), snow boots, and it’s always a good idea to bring an extra pair of socks.  I also ask that students can change into this gear independently.  I wish I could help all of our little ones into and out of their snow gear, but it just isn’t feasible.  This is not a requirement of course, it’s completely voluntary.  If students do not wish to go outside, they will have a fun time indoors as well!

**Please also note:  school will now be in session on Thursday, April 13 and on Friday, May 26. **

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!  🙂

T-shirt size?

If you have not returned the green half-sheet of paper, please do so as soon as possible.  We will need these sizes by this Thursday (3/9).  Teachers will need to “guess” the kids’ size for those that didn’t hand one in.  You are encouraged to bring the paper back so we have accurate sizes to order.  Hoping that our supporters help us to raise $13,000 so we can all receive the free shirts!

Thanks!
