Book Fair!!!

Our class will shop at the Book Fair next week during our “Library Instruction” time.  I recommend shopping with your child first.  Friday, the Book Fair will be open from 4:30-6:30.  Stop in there to shop with your child before heading out to the Family Picnic!  Students are still welcome to bring money to school next week to shop on their own.  Thank you!

I knew it!

I knew I was forgetting something!  So many fun things happening!

Order forms for our yearbooks went home with every student.  Orders are due by May 11th.  Cost-$15. Don’t miss out as we may not have any extras.  If you lost the order form you can send money labeled yearbook with the following information-

Many exciting things coming up.  Some changes too!

Thursday, May 11:   Our first graders will eat lunch outside with their teachers.  Please send in a blanket or towel to sit on.  The cafeteria has also changed the menu for us, since we’ll be outside!  This meal will be much easier to eat outside.  Thank you amazing cafeteria staff!

A. Turkey sub with lettuce only (don’t have sliced tomatoes)
baby carrots with dip
apple slices or bananas
choice of milk
choice of juice

B. Ham McComet

C. PB&Jelly

D. Yogurt and string cheese

We will pass out “Race for Education” t-shirts in the morning.  Students must wear sneakers to participate.  Come out and watch/cheer on/support/join in with your student from 2:00-3:00!

The teachers (including yours truly) will be locked in the gym Thursday night.  The doors of Hambright will be open for the community to come and see (taunt?) the prisoners.  You are invited to come from 5:30-6:30.

Pfew!  Busy Thursday!

Friday:  Reminder of our Early Dismissal at 1:30.

Next week will be a “little” more normal!  We just have to remember our “Physical Fun Day” on Tuesday.  Come dressed to be outside for 2+ hours playing, running, following directions at different stations, etc.

Outside Lunch!

Because the first graders returned so many labels for “Race for Education” this year, they will all be treated to a lunch outside with their teachers!  This will take place on Thursday, May 11.  If possible, please send in a picnic blanket or a beach towel to sit on.  If you do not have one, or forget to bring one, I KNOW many first graders will be thinking Win-Win and share their blanket/towel with you.  We are looking forward to a nice lunch outside!  (Don’t worry, you can still purchase school lunch, and you will bring your lunch outside to eat!).

Hope to see many parents out to support our runners on Thursday also!  2:00-3:00 is our time.

Thank you!

Rain, Rain, Go Away….

Due to the rainy forecast for tomorrow (100%, the last time I checked!), we have decided to postpone the Race for Education.  Please send your child to school tomorrow ready to learn!  We will try again for Race day next Thursday, May 11.

Also, please praise your son/daughter tonight.  We had an awesome day in 1-S today.  It was truly one of our best days of the year.  Find out from your child, what made today so great?  How did you work?  What does it feel like when you are successful?  I am so proud and will be going home with a smile on my face.  I love this class!  Have a great night!

Fine Arts Day!

Here are a few pictures of our sessions.  First, Junko Wright taught us the art of origami and Japanese dance.  Ms. Rita Clarke then did a few storytelling lessons with our classes.  The afternoon was also great fun with a “Tap and Tunes Cabaret” assembly, a Reading Rainbow video based on Molly Bang’s “The Paper Crane,” as well as more lessons on Japan.  Special thanks to Mrs. Smith (and our PTO) for putting this all together!
